As a counselor at Stewart Behavioral Health, I believe it's important for clients to feel that they are in a safe and non-judgmental environment, and as their counselor I strive to provide this type of atmosphere. Each treatment and session is tailored to the needs of the individual client and their presenting concerns. I allow the client to set the goals of therapy and help guide them if they need it. I have worked for Christian-based counseling agencies in the past, and if religion is important, this is something we can focus on. I also have experience with defiance, ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Typically, my focus is on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or rather talk with people about their thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I am also beginning to learn therapies that help with trauma , mostly DBT, but AM NOT specialized or certified. Taking that first step isn't easy and even if counseling is a last resort I encourage anyone to give it a try. If you're having a difficult day pick up the phone or send an email and someone will be there for you. Myself and the counselors at Stewart Behavioral Health are looking forward to helping you through that first step.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults. I primarily use play therapy techniques and cognitive-behavioral techniques in my practice. I have experience working with children with Asperger's, ADHD, Disruptive Behavior Disorders, Traumatic Grief reactions, anxiety, depression and a history of Trauma. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, disabilities, ADHD, and difficulties adjusting to medical problems. I am rostered with Project BEST and have had extensive training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). This treatment modality is evidenced based and designed to help children and adolescents who are experiencing trauma related symptoms. I am a Registered Play Therapist and I use play therapy with clients 3 and older. I am interested in the mind-body connection and encourage all of my clients to exercise, eat a healthy diet, and I teach a variety of relaxation techniques to help my clients deal with stress and anxiety.
