You should be proud that you’ve decided to take this first step of making yourself a priority. It takes courage to be vulnerable and admit, “I’m not ok.” Being willing to ask for help is a strength. At times in life, we may feel stuck and overwhelmed by debilitating burdens. Now is the time for healing and to work on releasing those heavy emotions. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, it is my goal to create a non-judgmental empathetic safe space to process feelings, learn to let go, and support you on your therapeutic journey. I’m sure you would like to know a little about my journey as well. I grew up in sunny San Diego in California. I enjoyed being a short drive from the beach and the beautiful weather. During my spare time, I love being with my family, husband, son, and dog Baxter. I strive to focus on my self-care with activities like acupuncture, being outdoors, traveling, and music festivals. You also may find me eating at all the different taco spots that Austin has to offer. My favorite is the Migas Taco from Veracruz All Natural! I got my Bachelor’s degree in psychology because I’ve always been fascinated with how the mind works. I moved to Austin to be close to my sister and nephew and pursue my Master's of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University. Ever since I was little, I loved listening to everyone’s stories and helping people. I truly knew from a young age that I had an innate ability that was meant for supporting others. I always feel honored when people trust me on a deeper level and are truly able to be their authentic selves in our work together. Thank you for allowing me to go on this journey with you.

I provide therapy using empirically supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I believe emotional pain must be allowed and accepted in order to be fully felt and heard. I believe that often times, people seek therapy when their pattern of responding to pain has become overwhelming and they are unable to consistently find meaning in their lives. I work to help others accept their current experiences and emotions in order to choose to respond in a way that is no longer dictated by past narratives and/or automatic reactions. In therapy, I'll invite you to be curious about what emotions you are experiencing, and to see them as helpful information. I'll be a collaborative partner so we can learn together, and I can teach you skills to help you respond differently to painful experiences. If you think I might be helpful, please reach out for a consultation. Education and Training: After obtaining a B.A. at Miami University, I obtained an M.S. at Pace University, and a Ph.D. at University at Albany. I subsequently completed a predoctoral internship and two year postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University's medical school. I am also authorized to work with clients in 39 additional states through PSYPACT: www.psypact.org

I am a native Texan who grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. I graduated in 2006 from Texas State University with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. I moved to Austin, Texas shortly thereafter. I spent the next 15 years working for a non-profit organization that specialized in serving the LGBTQIA+ community, people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones; and people experiencing trauma, depression or anxiety. I genuinely love what I do. I care about the people I work with and strive to provide quality care. I enjoy building a relationship with clients that allows them to talk as if they are talking to a best friend or confidant. Tell me the good, the bad, the ugly and you will get kind, companionate, non-judging care and support.
