I specialize in treating adults experiencing the effects of faith-related issues and/or sexual issues. Sex therapy may include addressing sexual shame, LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual dysfunction, libido differences, and sexual trauma. I am affirming of queer, non-monogamous, and kinky clients. Faith/religious issues may include faith transitions, mixed-faith marriages, excessive guilt, OCD tendencies, and limiting core beliefs. I am affirming of clients' personal values related to their faith, wherever they are on the spectrum of belief. I believe in a systems approach to therapy, meaning concerns in your life do not happen in isolation. I can help you address the specific issues you are facing by helping you find balance in your mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and sexual health. I believe in the great psychotherapist, Irvin Yalom’s, practice of inventing a new therapy for every person. I am skilled in a variety of modalities including EMDR, ACT, CBT and DBT and will work with you to provide you with what you need to find healing and create real changes in your life. I would love to partner with you to help you bring your life into balance again.

The decision to begin therapy can be challenging, you have just taken a courageous first step. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where clients are encouraged to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and compassionate setting. Our work together will help you understand yourself in relation to the world around you and to your life experiences. I believe in mind/body connection and incorporate mindfulness into my practice. Research shows that empowering clients with stress management techniques and mindfulness practice helps decrease levels of stress and anxiety and improves quality of life. View 4 Photos My therapeutic style is empathetic, supportive, and direct. I incorporate humor and laughter whenever possible. I work most often treating symptoms related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, substance use and life transitions and combine cognitive-behavioral, relational, mindfulness, Gottman (level 2) and psychodynamic approaches. I hope we can identify difficulties, think about where they have originated from, and learn coping skills to hopefully eradicate the difficulties you presented to therapy with. During treatment, I hope to facilitate growth and result in an overall healthier version of you.

I work primarily with couples that are struggling to feel connected and stay connected with each other. I help them have impactful experiences in session that build connection, resolve injuries and issues between them, and create a shared future that is win-win for both partners. I also work with individuals and families that have ongoing conflicts or lingering difficulties from their growing up years. Lastly, I work with individuals, couples and families that are experiencing interference in their lives due to the use of technology including gaming, pornography, and internet, social media, and smart phone use. I meet couples in the heart of their difficulties to help them find ways to heal and grow as individuals and as a couple. My training has included completion of Level Three of Gottman Method Couple Therapy training as well as Externship training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. I focus on working with each client to take action and find their own specific path to success in life. My goal is to help people become experts in their own patterns so they can resolve what brought them into therapy and also face new challenges where possible without needing to return to therapy. If you are ready to seek change, I am here to help!

I see adolescents and adults for psychotherapy, consultation, and assessment. I also see younger patients for psychological testing and assessment. My therapeutic work is guided by the idea that psychological distress is often related to habitual ways of perceiving and interacting with the world--ways that have protected and helped in the past, but now get in the way of living a more satisfying, enjoyable, and meaningful life. I am practical but also value thoroughness and depth. Whether it is something quite specific or a vague feeling that something is wrong, I would love to be in your corner. My approach to treatment is fundamentally grounded in a psychodynamic approach. This orientation examines the interplay of historical, emotional, social, and biological factors that contribute to who you are (including your strengths and vulnerabilities). I also draw heavily from family systems and cognitive therapy orientations. In our work together, we may focus on initial symptom relief at first, though we may also take more time to look deeply at the foundations from which the problems have originated. The relationship we develop becomes a crucible for change. See my website, www.brucepoulsen.com, for more information.

Relate to any of these? You're an anxiety-prone high achiever with a brain that just never quits; sometimes the rumination and fear takes over and constricts your life. Or you’re struggling through a major shift in religious beliefs and identity, and trying to figure out what it all means for your life. Or you’re hurting, but people don’t seem to fully understand...maybe you even have a hard time understanding yourself; others throw advice and techniques at you but it doesn't help. If so, I can help you. I've been helping people just like you for 20 years. I use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centered Therapy in my work, though I’m most interested in aligning with you to shape an approach that will work for your unique life. If you need someone skilled at helping people with faith transitions, or want some help reclaiming your life from anxiety, contact me today. I’m happy to consult with you before you decide whether or not you’d like me to be your therapist. Send me an email and I'll do my best to get back to you promptly.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide individual, couples, and family therapy. My extensive experience allows me to work successfully with a range of patients. I utilize a number of different approaches, integrating research and best practices to meet the needs of the individuals with whom I work. My training, experience and diversity of approaches allow me to work successfully with children, adolescents and adults. My work with patients begins with an initial consultation. This meeting is a time for the patient to let me know what s/he/they is looking for and also for us to determine if we will work well together. If we determine to continue working together, an individualized plan is developed in collaboration with the patient. Whenever possible I coordinate with primary care providers to ensure the most integrated care possible. I am on panel with a number of insurance providers. In addition, I am certified under APIT to provide telehealth in states with approved PSYPACT legislation.

My approach to therapy is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts and feelings (e.g., anxiety & depression), I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. We will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns–whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender & sexuality. View 4 Photos I primarily provide individual therapy with late teens and adults. I specialize in working transgender and non-binary youth and their families on matters related to gender identity. Transgender clients and family members seeking assessment or counseling services can expect a safe space, and respectful, non-pathologizing, collaborative care. If you feel like you may be a good fit, feel free to contact me. I will follow up with you for a brief (10-15 minute) phone consultation where we can determine together if we're a good fit and I can also answer any questions you might have.

My clients typically have experienced some form of trauma in their lives, to which we can utilize Brainspotting to help reconcile. I prefer to work in person, and I will come to you rather than work from an office. I also serve clients going through faith crisis, or who are struggling with LGBTQ+ issues. I have worked with families and youth in this regard. I also work with clients struggling with depression and anxiety. I have a unique therapy practice in that I will come to you. I do not have an office that I work out of. I prefer to come to you so that you are more at ease, rather than having to be in a stranger's office environment. Please reach out if you need assistance with trauma or PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationships issues, LGBTQ+ issues, are involved in polyamorous or consensual non-monogamy, and need help. I am currently offering individual and group psychedelic integration, as well as intensive retreats. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Transpersonal Psychology, and somatic healing modalities are the primary tools I use, when called-for, in therapy. Welcome! I’m Meg, an LCSW with a passion for helping kids and teens grow towards their most fulfilled, secure, and authentic selves. Growing up is hard for everyone, but I’ve found that many of the youth that come to see me have had a harder time than most finding a consistent feeling of safety and belonging in the world. Much of my experience has come from working with those who identify as neurodivergent or LGBTQ+, those diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, or other disabilities, those who have experienced developmental/complex trauma, and those struggling with anxiety, attachment, or self-image. I use a holistic and compassionate approach aimed at helping clients to understand, accept, and improve their relationship with their physical, emotional, and cognitive experiences and grow towards optimal behavior, relationships, confidence, regulation, and engagement in all aspects of life. I also support and involve the families of my clients in therapy. If you are looking for a therapist with an empathetic and non-judgmental presence who honors the innate wisdom of children, is fluent in the language of play, and supports healing with curiosity and humor, I would love to hear from you. I believe psychotherapy is the art of helping others to find inner peace and reach personal goals. Sadness, anxiety, anger and other non-peaceful feelings often result from trauma or difficult life events. How to deal with these feelings? It's very helpful to talk it over with, and get guidance from, someone who has insight and understanding -- and psychotherapy skills. This is what I consider to be my mission, to guide you toward resolving difficult situations and to improve your personal and relationship satisfaction -- and, to increase self-esteem, inner peace, confidence, and happiness. View 6 Photos I utilize therapeutic hypnosis and other processes to facilitate relaxation, enhance self-esteem, and -- especially -- to help you process and overcome painful deep-down injuries, tragedies, abuse and misunderstandings that create ongoing emotional pain and block your ability to achieve happiness and life goals. Specific topics we can address include: fears, sex, assault, spirituality and faith, guilt, PTSD, suicide, LGBTQ concerns, military experiences, parenting, school and occupational pressures. I've been a therapist and professor for many years -- and I'm also a reader, a swimmer, a musician, and a grandfather. Together, we can figure it out and get you peace.
