I am a social worker who specializes in couples and sexual-related issues. I do a lot of work with couples around infidelity, trust and sexual issues. I spend much time helping couples overcome the aftermath of affairs and help lead them to a better relationship than they previously had. I also work with individuals with problems like depression, anxiety and loss. I do my sessions exclusively by video and phone and have done teletherapy for about five years. My style is very casual and thoughtful. And I have become very adept at doing teletherapy. I find that most of my clients prefer this format. In couples work, I teach that communication is different for men and women. I help couples and individuals with sexual issues like lack of desire, performance anxiety, dysfunction, coming out issues and relationship types (consensual nonmonogamy and monogamy) and navigating these. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I know that sexual and relationship issues can be difficult to discuss, but with my style I think you'll feel quite comfortable talking with me. You will find reaching out for the initial conversation with me that I am not judgemental in the least and that you will feel at ease speaking with me.

I believe it is my calling to help my clients get to a better place and live happier, more fulfilled lives. I hope to help you see your worth, understand your past and how you got to the present, and explore the possibilities for your future! I use a psychoanalytic approach which simply means that I will listen to your story from childhood up through adulthood to get an understanding of what has happened over your life that may be manifesting today and causing challenges for you. Then we do the work to heal the parts that maybe aren't so whole right now. The individuals and families I have worked with over my career have reintroduced me to myself as I share some of the same experiences they have. I particularly love working with young adult women, black men and survivors of intimate partner violence. I also specialize in helping those with family conflict and relationship challenges. I can help you process through what has happened to you or what you are currently feeling--at your pace. As a therapist that has a therapist, I understand that finding a good fit is a process. If you are ready to take the first step, please reach out to me and let's see if we may work well together.

The common misconception is that therapy is for "crazy" or "sick" people. Instead I believe it is a chance to work with clients on how to use their challenges as opportunities for change and growth. It is also a time to better understand our view of the world, examine any relationship issues, and become better versions of ourselves. I focus on each individual's unique characteristics, instead of what a diagnosis may say about them. View 4 Photos As a LMFT my therapeutic style is a collaborative and supportive one. I believe that each client is the expert of their own lives and it is my job to assist them along the journey of their life. I work from a strength-based approach to help clients discover and utilize their own individual strengths. I have availability in the late evening and weekend in order to provide appointment times for those with scheduling difficulties.

My work with clients is based on the holistic philosophy of transpersonal, humanistic, mindfulness, and depth psychology. I use a client-centric approach that honors the lived experience and inherent wisdom of my clients in the dimensions of mind, body, emotions, spirituality, creativity, and community. The therapeutic process is focused on facilitating a client's self-awareness, self-acceptance, curiosity, and courage to change. Clients who benefit most from this approach have a strong desire to heal, gain insight, and transform insight into action. View 4 Photos I help clients reduce dependence on the habitual use of survival strategies that no longer serve their needs. The core of humanistic-oriented therapy is to help clients find the courage to be authentic in their lives and to gain freedom through consciousness. I also help clients understand their brain and how to avoid being hijacked by unhelpful reactivity. If you are a highly sensitive person (HSP) please inquire about addressing the special needs of HSPs. I am also a rock climber and integrate lesson from this experience including facing fears, practicing mindfulness, engaging in problem solving, and cultivating humility. *** CURRENTLY NOT TAKING NEW CLIENTS *** Therapy offers the opportunity to make lasting positive changes in life and in relationships. By exploring the role the past has played in current difficulties and dissolving old, destructive patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, life can be more balanced and joyful. I offer warmth, compassion, support, and insight to my clients, with an approach that is direct, non-judgmental, and tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. Oriented toward building on natural strengths and empowering meaningful changes, our work together can foster an increased ability to more adaptively attend to the ever-changing flow of life. Together, we will work toward identifying destructive behavioral patterns and replace them with empathy for ourselves and those around us. Learning the art of non-judgmental awareness - mindfulness - we will explore these themes, connecting more intimately with the memories, emotions, thoughts, and sensations fundamentally associated with them. By exploring unmet childhood and current attachment needs, we learn to conquer self-defeating habits and discover a new way of approaching our thoughts, emotions, and personal behavior. Empowering ourselves to get our basic needs met in this way, we move toward creating greater balance, harmony, and joy in our lives.

Healing and finding inner peace is a life long journey, premised on the notion that "Nothing changes if nothing changes". I enjoy working with individuals who are ready to challenge issues such as anxiety, trauma, conflict with family, and old scripts and old tapes that are no longer serving them in everyday life. I enjoy individuals who are active participants in their treatment process and who value growth, resilience, and the journey into change and recovery. Come as you are and we'll work toward where you want to be. I've been a clinician for over 20 years. I feel privileged and honored to be invited in to share an individual's journey as he/she intertwines life, relationships, and personal growth. It's an awe-inspiring process and can yield many rewards. Feel free to call me directly and I can answer any questions you have. Type I D parent.

Our relationship to ourselves, others and the world are all intimately connected. Few of us walk through life without significant challenges that require us to grow, heal and change. As a therapist my purpose is to create a trusting respectful relationship with clients, whether dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, or relationship issues. My approach is tailored to meet the needs of each client's unique situation, using traditional and alternative interventions and may be either short or long term. Of particular interest to me is working with couples through counseling and powerful group workshop models. I have considerable training and experience in working with couples, individually and in couples' workshops. My 25 year practice as a physical therapist and study of body based therapies also informs my practice. I am a trained Enneagram teacher and presenter and use the excellent map of the Enneagram when appropriate. It is sometimes hard to reach out for help. The truth, we all need it in many ways; it's part of our being human, as is the reality of life's challenges. I offer a safe place for you to explore whatever it is you may be struggling with.

I take an action-oriented approach: I will work together with you to co-create a space where you heal the painful memories that hold you back, so you can move toward what's important to you. I want to see you take hold of life. I am a licensed professional counselor with experience across a broad spectrum. I graduated from the Arizona State University, Master of Counseling program in 2009. My areas of expertise include EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. One of the biggest barriers to change is trauma; bad experiences from our past which get locked in the nervous system. We shut down or over-react to situations as a way to find safety. I address this with EMDR--Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Typical results of EMDR include increased focus, calm and confidence. I work best with clients who prefer an action-oriented approach and who are ready to make changes, but need some guidance. I work with people who feel stuck and want to break free. I also conduct therapy in Spanish.

I became a therapist because I’ve never found being a Human especially easy, and I’ve had a lot of adverse life experiences. For some people, being happy comes naturally. For others it takes a lot of work to find it. I believe we learn best from those of us who have had to learn to endure, persevere, and even find meaning from pain. I have gained the skills to help adults address trauma (PTSD), relationship difficulties with family or romantic partners, and problematic sexual behaviors. I am interested in helping people make lasting changes to bring true empowerment and life and life transformation. We all have things in life that we need help working through, and sometimes our emotions seem to be steering the ship, and we're simply along for the ride. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential space for you to get the support and guidance you are seeking.

Change can be difficult -- Allow me to help you succeed on your journey! Throughout my years of experience, I've found great joy and satisfaction in helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I use a combination of play therapy, art therapy, and talk therapy, as appropriate per the child's developmental level. Treating "difficult" teens is also one of my specialties. I treat youth experiencing challenges with depression, anxiety, abuse, substance use, and self-harm. I treat adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting issues, stress, separation/divorce and other life crisis situations.
