NOTE: I AM NOT TAKING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME I look forward to working with you in individual or couples therapy to help you find a secure base within yourselves and in relationship to others. My goal is for you to feel safe and comfortable enough to trust and share with me so that we can explore experiences, thoughts, and emotions together. We will work on many levels including the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual to help you become aware of your own sense of self and purpose, and strengthen your connection to others. With couples, we will work to change dysfunctional cycles and renew connection and communication. I successfully work with clients with PTSD, depression, and anxiety, including those with childhood trauma such as sexual abuse and family violence. I also help victims of domestic violence become empowered and develop healthy relationships. With my previous background as a scientist, I also understand the unique issues facing professionals. Let's work together to move through the past and present challenges that life brings so that you can reduce anxiety and depression, experience more clarity and energy, enhance the quality of your relationships, and feel empowered to bring more joy into your life.

Sometimes, it’s about where to start. How will you talk to this stranger – or why would you? My goal is to provide a safe place to talk and to not be a stranger. I often do 15-minute phone chats so you can “pre-meet” me and get that initial edge out of the way. I want to help you to (re)discover your own voice, to understand your reactions, to recover a more daring, loving self – someone who is more and not less. I won’t be a stranger for long because I’ve journeyed on similar paths. I work with individuals, couples, and families. While I will not be your answer book, I can be your guide. Whether you want to (re)learn how to communicate; to listen better; to express your needs and feel seen; to be safely angry; to be better understood, I use an integrative approach because you are unique and one therapy approach does not fit all. I understand how that COVID continues to affect how many live, think, react, interact, brood, & plan. It has interrupted our lives and demands attention. You can talk about the elephants in your life: from COVID to politics to religion to sex to gender to love to work to school … the whole zoo. This is your time for you. We work together; I adjust to you!

I am a compassionate, down to earth person offering therapy to both individuals and couples. It is my belief that healing comes from within you, and within the context of a relationship. I specialize in working with the effects of trauma on people's lives, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, relational troubles. I practice using Somatic Experiencing and EMDR to help clients find calmness, wholeness, emotional resilience, and renewed connection to themselves, and to people in their lives. My specialty also includes working with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy to help them find different ways to express their feelings and needs to their partners and create a sense of safety and closeness in their relationships. I believe that a significant part of what is healing about therapy is the trusting relationship. I aim at helping people feel supported as they make changes and stress personal responsibility by encouraging them to take a compassionate and honest look at themselves. I specialize in marriage and relationship issues. Relationships are unique and require a different approach. What works in individual counseling fundamentally doesn't work for couples, and may even cause more harm than good. I understand the difference. Using an evidence-based approach, I bring perspective without blaming or taking sides. With your partner or even on your own, I'm here to help. If you're ready to make a lasting change or want to learn more, visit my site at staystrongtogether.com. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 22 years of clinical experience. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) endorsed by the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I bring professional experience, my own relationship experience, and the ability to put couples and individuals at ease even in times of crisis and stress. We go through emotional intensity, but there is always room for laughter too. My perspective is that strong relationships are the foundation for well being.
