Gwendolyn Williams Satchell, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Co-Founder of The Essence Behavioral Health, LLC, Hartford, CT. Her first and most fond memories of “social work” as a child were derived from her parents experiences as school teachers in Hartford, CT and the budding of her Christian faith at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hartford. Gwendolyn quickly understood what it meant to be part of a marginalized community when her parents decided to move from Hartford to South Windsor to get a better education. Gwendolyn has a BA in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University and a MSW with a concentration in Administration from UCONN School of Social Work. She has also studied abroad at the University of West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. She has 30 years of diverse experience as a Social Worker; working with children, individuals, families and elders. Gwendolyn became an LMSW in 2014 while working with children and adolescents per. diem for Wheeler Clinic’s emergency mobile crisis. In 2021 Gwendolyn became an LCSW and currently, specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, (DBT).
