I reside and practice from the heart of Central Virginia with my incredible husband and three beautiful children. In over a decade, I've been honored to work in multiple treatment environments -- using a variety of traditional and nontraditional modalities. From Cognitive-based, Somatic Therapy, and Trauma-Sensitive mindfulness practices, to the creative arts, Play Therapy, and inner child work, I love to make my methods as individualized as those who desire support. For nearly six years, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering for a local maternal health nonprofit that is impassioned with sustaining free programming which empowers, educates, and eliminates access barriers to care. I seek to use a social justice lens, providing equitable spaces where persons can be authentic within safety. When not working, I enjoy going on adventures with my family, writing, and watching throwback Black 90’s sitcoms.

As a first-generation immigrant, my experience of moving to the United States has given me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of culture shock and the necessity of adapting to a new environment, whether one likes it or not. This background enables me to offer a level of empathy towards the challenges faced by immigrants that extends beyond the basic professional capacity for empathy gained through training. I don’t just empathize with what you’re going through as an immigrant—I can fundamentally relate to it. I believe that successful therapy involves personal transformation, and this is best guided by someone who has undergone such transformation themselves. The challenges I’ve overcome in my personal growth have provided me with valuable insights and strengthened my ability to support and guide you effectively on your own path to growth. In my training, I embraced the traditional principles of professional neutrality and objectivity, which continue to guide my practice. While complete objectivity is an ideal, I strive to maintain a balanced and fair perspective in our work together, fostering an environment where honest self-exploration becomes a powerful catalyst for healing and growth. I prioritize exploring the root causes of emotional difficulties over merely reducing symptoms, believing that meaningful and lasting change comes from understanding and addressing the underlying factors that shape your experiences. This approach reflects my commitment to deep, transformative work rather than surface-level solutions. Therapy is a collaborative process where responsibility is shared between client and therapist. Together, we work towards your goals, with both of us playing an active role in the process and outcomes.

Many of us come to therapy because we are experiencing symptoms, feelings or circumstances that we want to change. Only to discover that there might be deeper things that we desire, that the symptoms are only the surface. We discover that we want to find our purpose or calling, that we want freedom from expectations, freedom from fears. We are seeking meaningful and honest relationships. We wish to communicate efficiently. We crave inspiration, imagination, creativity, and clarity. We long to move forward, wherever that place is. We want to expand and feel the infinity that we are and explore all possibilities in our lives. To explore your path and goals I use creative approaches/methods that include expressive arts (visual arts, music, dance/movement, writing, storytelling, and theater), sound therapy, embodiment coaching and yoga, Jungian techniques, sandtray and play therapy. I also utilize more traditional methods such as DBT and CBT in creative ways. Our space will hold you and your state of being without judgment. There will be laughter and tears, sometimes heaviness or lightness. We can explore and process deeply while "going down the rabbit hole" of life and coming out whole and integrated to create the life you want to live. Let's connect to creativity and wonder.
