My approach to therapy focuses on empowering clients by to direct their life's course with confidence & know-how, providing skills for successful emotional regulation & creating therapeutic opportunities for developing self-knowledge & inner-wisdom. My work has led me to believe in the human capacity for emotional health & resilience under even the toughest of circumstances. In treatment, I nourish this capacity by using evidence-based interventions, an appreciation for the spontaneous & the playful, and drawing on what I know has worked well in the past with other clients facing similar challenges. I am continually humbled by how the therapeutic journey is defined by the ways in which it is unique to each traveler, not by similarities. I always keep this in mind when working with clients. I work with those who feel disconnected from themselves and the world around them. Stress, trauma, or other difficulties can leave us feeling splintered and fragmented. We will welcome you back into your mind, body, and spirit. I am identity affirming; I offer a space where you can be seen and heard without reservation. I work with individuals who are exploring all facets of their identity across the spectrum of human experience. I specialize in supporting those who are post-religious and finding it difficult to navigate that journey. The foundation of my approach is acceptance. I don't believe anything is "wrong" with you, there is nothing about you that is shameful. I believe that we can work together to integrate that vision into how you view yourself. You are enough, you are worthy, and I see that!

During the course of our lives we experience many joys and hardships, and along with them the full range of human emotions. Each moment and feeling is an opportunity to better understand self, other, and the world. Your painful feelings may be signals that old wounds need to be acknowledged or that your truth is not being lived fully. If you are currently struggling to cope with life challenges, feeling unfulfilled or seeking personal growth, the therapeutic relationship can provide an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere to explore the body and mind in a safe, comfortable space. View 8 Photos I work with adults and couples impacted by childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and panic, relationship issues, codependency, identity confusion, low self esteem, and grief/loss. I believe therapy is useful for everyone, whether you are struggling to cope with general life stressors or want to work on becoming your best self. I discovered early in my career that traditional talk therapy doesn’t work best for everyone. I draw on ancient practices, Eastern medicine and evidence-based research to awaken your innate healing potential. Greetings, my name is Aíne (pronounced "Anya") Nevar. You're here because you seek solutions to questions you have been asking, and now you have decided to take action. Some of you are experienced with psychotherapy, others are new to this way of self-discovery--a deeper exploration of yourself and how you focus yourself in this world. How do I live with anxiety or depression or trauma? More importantly, how do I learn to heal myself, deliberately control my life, my reality, and create or manifest my dreams? Well, my client friends, you're right on time and you're in the right place. Good feeling thoughts to consider, yes? Sometimes you feel stuck, impossibly so, but then it gets better. Wouldn't it be nice to control the "it gets better" part? My specialty is PTSD, childhood trauma, anxieties, depression, gender identity issues, women's issues, spirituality. My focus--a diverse, holistic, integrative approach, helping you to clarify your priorities and return to well-being.

I have been a psychotherapist for over 30 years, so my practice has both depth and breadth. I have much experience working with depression and anxiety, addictions and recovery, all types of trauma, and relationship issues of all kinds. I welcome LGBTQ+ individuals, folx from non-dominant cultural backgrounds, and I enjoy working with individuals, couples, "pods," and families. My goal is the empowerment of everyone I serve. I have worked in a wide range of settings. I know the traditional behavioral health world of diagnosis and treatment planning for depression/anxiety, co-occurring disorders, and substance use disorders; I mainly work in non-medical, non-traditional ways, including Internal Family Systems and Gestalt therapy-both present moment, creative, somatic therapies. I have been told that I work with an open heart. My intuition is sharp. I use IFS and Gestalt therapy as a foundation and lead clients to where their Desire is realized. I also have an inclusive mindset, and am able to be present and connect with each unique person I serve. Presence and compassion are the foundation of my work.

I work with clients whose psychological issues cross the boundaries between brain, body, mind, and spirit. Special interests are the broad spectrum of ADHD and related brain differences, and the stress caused by living with these in a misunderstanding society. My approach integrates mindfulness practices, attention and working memory training, with depth psychology (dreamwork, a symbolic and imaginative approach to life, seeking meaning beneath constriction). Because neuropsychological issues raise questions of meaning, self-worth, and place in the world, these are central to my work. Unfortunately, our culture often sees ADHD as laziness or irresponsibility rather than what it is: a brain difference with positive as well as negative potentials. I help clients understand and challenge this distortion. The uniqueness of my approach is that I integrate cognitive-behavioral practices like breathing, executive function training, and neurofeedback with depth psychological therapy and mindfulness. The mind and body exist in a profound relationship of mutual influence; therefore, it is most effective to work with both at once.

Your willingness to seek help is a courageous step towards healing & change. I believe in the transformative power of a therapeutic relationship and view it as our combined effort. I use LGBTQIA+ affirming, social justice-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches to foster a safe, consistent and curious environment that supports your wisdom while guiding your pursuit of valued and meaningful living. Our partnership will include my extensive education & advanced training working with individuals who have been adversely impacted by relational and attachment disruptions, abuse/neglect and complex traumatic experiences. We will explore ways in which your painful experiences and unresolved feelings discourage you from creating the fulfilling life you desire. We will enhance your ability to be present with your thoughts and feelings to increase your understanding of how these internal events keep you stuck in habitual behaviors and responses that might no longer serve you. While I draw from a number of modalities, including attachment, neuroscience, existential-humanistic, psychodynamic, and solution-focused, I focus on mindfulness and acceptance-informed therapy, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is an evidence based approach to the problem of suffering, and the pursuit of values and meaningful life.
