You were not born inherently flawed, and you were not born to suffer, but maybe somehow, somewhere along the way, your brain received this information and it has shaped the way you live your life. Feelings of isolation, guilt, shame, anger, and sadness have begun to feel inescapable, making it difficult to ask for/ accept help from others. You may feel trapped in a cycle of harmful and problematic behaviors , thoughts, relationships- you know something isn’t working, but can’t seem to figure out why or where to begin to start feeling better . Give yourself credit- you’ve already taken a big step forward, which brought you here. My practice is strongly rooted in uncovering the harmful beliefs you may have developed about yourself, how these beliefs are preventing you from healing, and identifying ways to break free of painful life patterns. I specialize in working with teens and adults with addiction, gender identity/ LGBTQA+ struggles, depression, C-PTSD, and generational trauma. “Anything that is ‘wrong’ with you began as a survival mechanism in childhood”- Gabor Mate. My goal is to provide a space for you to feel accepted, secure, & empowered to examine these parts of yourself, acknowledge what is no longer serving you, and provide unconditional positive regard as you establish healthy ways to process your experiences.

Sometimes we move into a season of life where we realize something needs to change. We don’t always know what that change is, but we sense that without it, we may not be able to move forward. Therapy is the exploration and healing of that season of life. We have a tendency to repeat old patterns that don’t get us to our goal, but struggle to come up with a different path. This doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. In fact, it means that a part of you believes deeply that the way you’re doing things is helpful, even though the end result doesn’t seem so wonderful! Let’s try to create a path to freedom together! View 5 Photos Aisha is a trained trauma and Eating Disorder therapist. Trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. Humans can have relationship trauma, physical trauma, sexual trauma, emotional trauma etc. Through a technique known as EMDR, Aisha works to help challenge those thoughts, feelings, and distressing events. As a client, I want you to feel heard, supported, and challenged. Reaching out is hard. My hope for every client is that they find a way to thrive in the world rather than just fight to survive. As a dietitian, Aisha incorporates intuitive eating as a way to prevent food from being used as a coping mechanism. Food is one part of our day, not all of it!

Welcome! I'm Alex, and I'm happy you're here. I view counseling as a dynamic process. If one’s humanity can be met with empathy and curiosity, true understanding happens. While we all may seek personal growth, I believe there are many routes and no final destination. Because I value a person-centered approach, I support the connection between the therapeutic relationship and healing. Through embracing your individuality, I strive to honor your unique experiences. From this unconditional regard, I hope my clients will gain freedom to explore their genuine thoughts and feelings. Once we discover our own resilience, it becomes a catalyst for reclaiming our purpose. Together along a shared journey, I offer my clients more aligned ways of being. Empowering you to silence your inner critic, I invite you to replace judgment with awareness. By cultivating self-compassion, we allow ourselves to pursue greater cognitive flexibility and emotional wellbeing. Rather than set unrealistic expectations, we can transform fear, guilt, and shame into a meaningful life story.

Many of us seek out therapy for different reasons; to gain better insight about ourselves and others, to be able to see the bigger picture more clearly, or to meet specific goals. I aim to offer a space where you can share without holding back, and without judgment, and where we can collaborate in gaining insight into impactful, long-held patterns and beliefs. I believe that therapy can offer a space to practice being open, vulnerable, and expressive. Ultimately, I work to support you in strengthening your abilities to cope, communicate, and problem solve in healthy ways, while you uncover and develop your inner wisdom and strengths.

Traumatic experiences exact a heavy toll, and not just in the moment. Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD) can last for weeks, months, even years after the event. I would be honored to walk the path of healing with you, supporting you as you reclaim your vitality and establish a genuine sense of connection with yourself, others, your body, and your soul. While my therapeutic approach is eclectic, Somatic Experiencing is foundational to my work. SE is a body-oriented and naturalistic approach to the resolution and healing of trauma, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. By supporting you to connect with your body and develop trust in its innate capacity to heal, we can access and address the trauma that lingers in your nervous system. This allows you to work through painful feelings of anger, guilt, or shame, as well as somatic symptoms like headaches, chronic pain, digestive distress, and sleep difficulties. My clients have included adults abused as children, domestic and sexual violence survivors, veterans, first responders, those leaving high-control groups, incarcerated offenders, and LGBTQ+ people, among others. It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help; for that, I commend you. I look forward to partnering with you on your healing journey.

I am a Neurodivergent therapist. I have ADHD, combined type and PTSD so I understand the gravity of finding the right clinician for your specific needs. You deserve to receive unconditional positive regard. You deserve to be heard. You deserve therapy that meets your specific goals. I heavily subscribe to the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy framework, but pull from several different approaches to meet my clients where they are and support them in the ways they deem important. It is not my place to tell you what you need - I believe you already know and I am simply a guide along your journey. View 4 Photos I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board-Certified Music Therapist, and Registered Play Therapist. I am credentialed and qualified to provide creative therapy services as well as general talk therapy. I work with all ages and presenting concerns. I believe it is important to find the right service and an approach that works for you specifically. One of my most influential therapists said, "the healthiest people are the ones who walk through the door." This stuck with me. It communicated to me that the courage it takes to attend a therapy session already serves to heal. My ultimate goal is to empower you to face life's challenges with grace, esteem, and your most authentic self. Let's make it happen.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or feelings of not measuring up in some way? Is it tied into an eating disorder, body image, relationships, parenting, perfectionism, performance, major life changes, or substance use that has you feeling this way? Most likely life feels like a bloody slog, but it doesn't have to be. Nor do you have to do it alone. As a therapist, I don't judge and I don't tell you what to do. I'm a guide, educator, and motivator who will work as hard as you're willing to work so you can have a full, happy life. DUDE stands for Developing Understanding, Developing Empathy. The starting point is identify the real issue(s), how it developed, and how you treat it. That's "understanding." Then you have to "develop empathy" for yourself and the struggling. Face the issues, be courageous, ask for help. You can't break a stick in a bundle. Build your unbreakable team. I consider myself a "wounded healer," someone who has suffered from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse, and self-harm in my life. It affected my relationships, performance in all areas of my life from sports to music to school and work. I did the therapy because I was ready to do the work. If you're ready to do it too, let's get to work.

Thank you for considering working with me as your counselor. I work individually and in groups with adolescents, adults, couples and families. I approach counseling from a person-centered theoretical background, meaning I believe that each person has within themselves the tools to grow, change, heal and improve. It is my goal to help individuals access those personal resources and grow in their personal self-efficacy. Self-awareness and self-efficacy, while goals in the counseling relationship, are difficult to achieve and will take time, energy, and client engagement. Clients will feel that they are able to face life's challenges. While I am trained in person-centered counseling and EMDR, I also draw on other counseling theories and techniques in my practice. I approach clients from a family systems perspective to identify existing patterns, work to set goals or changes clients would like to implement in their lives, consider obstacles, and plan how to reach the desired goals. Because I believe that no person exists on an island, we may talk about things like your family, how you came to be the way you are, how you experience emotions, communication skills and more. In coming to therapy, I believe that client’s are taking a brave step in prioritizing their mental health and wellness and we will partner to work towards healing.

There is only one you in the whole entire world and my goal is for you to be able to live your life to its fullest. Seeking out healing is a brave step to take and it shows that you want to live healthier and deal with the issues that are keeping you from that. We cannot always change the things that happen to us in life, but we have a choice to seek help and healing to help our future. So good job already taking this first step! Each person is unique, so I believe each person needs a unique treatment plan that fits their needs and wants. Setting goals collaboratively is important, along with seeking out ways for dealing with immediate symptoms, practicing mindfulness, working on communication and relationships, and learning soul care (mental and emotional care). I want to welcome you to this therapy journey and I would love to come alongside you and walk this path of healing together. This therapy journey does not always go in a straight line, so while we will follow a path we decide on together, we will also leave space and take time for detours and anything else that emerges along the way.

I am a clinical psychologist with a background in philosophy, who enjoys helping people untie the mental and emotional knots that have held them back. Much of my work involves properly identifying the problems-in-living with which my clients are struggling and eliciting their latent skills and creative resources to overcome those problems. That is, before one can properly get anywhere therapeutically, one must answer the question, “What makes the ‘problem’ a problem at this time, in this way, for this particular person?” I collaborate with my clients in finding and building better ways of living, tailored to their unique circumstances. I guide them to unburden themselves of core relational conflicts and relinquish maladaptive ways of thinking and coping (rumination, avoidance, etc). My work is theoretically guided and empirically informed. I also provide psychological evaluation for adults and children for ADHD, autism, executive functioning problems, emotional and personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental issues. I work with a growing number of creative professionals, people involved in the arts, film, media, entrepreneurial businesses, and education. I own The Eupatheia Center.
