Profile

Based on my broad experience in higher education, Federal EAP's and law enforcement/national security settings, I have observed that many people are "too well-adapted for their own good". Caretaking others, performing above expectations, and appearing just fine while their physical or emotional health is being eroded by chronic stress or unhealthy coping mechanisms. In an initial phone consultation, I try to help prospective clients define and clarify their reasons for seeking help. I then provide recommendations regarding counseling, psychotherapy, or other support or treatment options in the person's best interest.
I am an empathic and highly engaged therapist who can help you gain insight and make desired changes, i.e., socially, interpersonally, vocationally. This process typically balances useful cognitive/behavioral strategies; energy psychology methods to diffuse stress; and gentle exploration of any unresolved traumas, losses, or family-of-origin dynamics.
I am committed to understanding and genuinely meeting clients' needs in a holistic, integrated way. Beyond psychotherapy, I can provide issue-specific counseling or coaching to help navigate many life challenges. I am also well-versed in the 12-step self-help model & can bolster relapse prevention efforts for those already established in alcohol recovery.
