Recent Updates From Sheila Maitland
Last updated | Thursday October 10, 2024
Many of our clients look good on the outside, yet feel mildly miserable on the inside. Pain is motivating and when clients are hurting, they call to schedule an appointment. It takes more than intellect to change behavior. Most of our clients are intelligent and know what they "should" do, yet struggle to take action. Our team works with people (or partners) who struggle with substances and behavioral medicators such as alcohol, porn, overeating and codependency. We treat individuals, couples and families that need help with addiction, mental illness, infidelity or simply feeling stuck. It is a relief to not have to do it alone..

We typically work with addicts and/or family members of addicts that are suffering with codependency and family of origin issues. In the work, we often discover that the addict behavior covers up feelings that surround unresolved trauma. Helping clients resolve this underlying trauma creates new and healthy ways to connect, be seen and get one's needs met.
We work experientially, bringing action & feeling to the process rather than simply talking about it. Clients find this exciting, freeing and relieving. By working this way, clients can rely on their clarity that comes from the work. We have found working in 90 minute blocks allows more time & helps clients feel seen and heard in a profoundly healing way.
