You were not born inherently flawed, and you were not born to suffer, but maybe somehow, somewhere along the way, your brain received this information and it has shaped the way you live your life. Feelings of isolation, guilt, shame, anger, and sadness have begun to feel inescapable, making it difficult to ask for/ accept help from others. You may feel trapped in a cycle of harmful and problematic behaviors , thoughts, relationships- you know something isn’t working, but can’t seem to figure out why or where to begin to start feeling better . Give yourself credit- you’ve already taken a big step forward, which brought you here. My practice is strongly rooted in uncovering the harmful beliefs you may have developed about yourself, how these beliefs are preventing you from healing, and identifying ways to break free of painful life patterns. I specialize in working with teens and adults with addiction, gender identity/ LGBTQA+ struggles, depression, C-PTSD, and generational trauma. “Anything that is ‘wrong’ with you began as a survival mechanism in childhood”- Gabor Mate. My goal is to provide a space for you to feel accepted, secure, & empowered to examine these parts of yourself, acknowledge what is no longer serving you, and provide unconditional positive regard as you establish healthy ways to process your experiences.

Starting therapy can be a daunting task, between the fear of being judged and the dread of spending half your session explaining terms or acronyms that make up an integral part of your identity. All you want is to talk to someone who gets you. Maybe you’re navigating the process of coming out; maybe you’re on the cusp of a major transition; or maybe you’re tired of trying to fit yourself in a box that doesn’t seem made for people like you. It can feel lonely, frustrating, and even scary sometimes. I understand. As a queer, neurodivergent counselor, I know that, while our individual stories are unique, there are shared histories and experiences within each community. These commonalities give me a perspective and understanding of certain issues you might be going through. Together we can face these issues in an environment that is safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental. You deserve the chance to be your authentic self, to learn how to work with your brain instead of against it, and to achieve the goals and life changes you wish to make. It would be an honor to be part of your journey. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’m happy to meet for a free consultation to see if we would be a good fit and answer any questions.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Masters of Science in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville. I have clinical experience in working with children and teens in a partial hospitalization setting. I have a great deal of expertise working with trauma survivors and with family and intergenerational traumas. This clinical history has formed the lens of which I view the world and my work within it. Providing trauma informed care is important to me as a therapist because I believe that having a safe, strong therapeutic relationship is key to success in reaching our goals in therapy. In addition to a background in treating trauma, I have knowledge and experience in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, and family conflict as barriers to their health. My goal is to help individuals explore their own strengths and utilize these in developing safe, appropriate, and adaptable coping skills. I will provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space for individuals to share openly about uncomfortable and difficult topics. I believe in taking a collaborative approach and want to provide a space where individuals feel heard, validated, and supported.

This is not the life you pictured, is it? You know things need to change but have no idea where to start. Being a human in this fast-paced society is quite difficult and often times heartbreaking. I strive to place the therapeutic relationship as my primary focus, because until someone feels authentically accepted, change is not going to be possible. You came here to change things in your life but ironically, first you have to learn to accept who and what you are, right in this moment. I can help you get to that place! I mix science of the brain & body in combination with identifying the many loops and patterns we tend to get "stuck" in, to help clients achieve authentic change, and a more peaceful outlook on themselves and their life.

I’m a person-centered therapist, giving the client the power to direct where we go during session. Giving power back to the person is my highest priority. I want people to feel comfortable and safe to express themselves and process what they’re feeling. The conversation will have challenges to thought processes that aren’t working and to practice skills that are outside of what they may have tried in the past. Clients in the past have said that I’m very calm and collected during session. People are able to laugh, make jokes, cry, be angry, and be supported by me during the session. I challenge them, and con have a conversation with them all at once. I think clients keep coming back to me because they know that I have their best interest in mind during treatment, they can bring their whole selves to the session, and that I am in their corner.

It's tough to be a kid or teen right now and it's tough to parent a kid or teen. The more motivated a young person and their family are to improve, the more successful we are in therapy. It will go best when everyone is (1) honest enough to really get to know themselves, (2) empathetic enough to care about the effects their choices and actions have on others, and (3) brave enough to do things differently so they can feel better, have healthier relationships, and enjoy more successes. I help children, tweens, teens, and families to identify their own values, needs, interests, strengths, and supports. Using the values as our foundation and building on current strengths, we first figure out what's working well and then what isn't. We make an individualized plan and follow it to meet needs, engage interests, and build on successes. It can help a lot to have the support and insights of a seasoned professional in your corner, someone who has the education and experience of working with thousands of young people (ages 2-21) and those who love them. I can help you make sense out of what's happening now and we can work together to make things better. Your choices always are up to you.

When it comes to treating various disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because therapy (as opposed to the use of medication alone) treats more than just symptoms of the problem. Therapy can help uncover the causes of your issues, teach methods of relaxation, help view situations in new ways, and help you to develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills. While we have years of experience treating a wide range of disorders, we also remain up to date on the most effective forms of treatment on obtaining the relief that you desire and deserve. We have a shared passion for helping those struggling with mood disorders, such as depression, PTSD, and anxiety, as well as survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence, and those struggling with substance abuse. We offer various treatment options based on years of experience and education, but most importantly, tailored to your needs. Our goal is to help you learn what works best for you. Whatever your goals, whatever your needs, wherever your path leads – we will see you through.

Psychological testing can be a critical tool in clarifying diagnoses, assisting psychiatrists in making decisions about medication, and providing recommendations and resources to support decision-making about treatment. Psychological testing is commonly recommended to diagnose ADHD or learning disabilities. College students are often referred for this type of testing because they are struggling in school for the first time and there are no known reasons for their challenges. My therapy sessions are designed to provide patients with effective tools to help them cope with life's stressors and improve their overall well-being. My expertise is in providing psychological testing services for children & adults ages 6+ to assist with diagnostic clarification for conditions such as ADHD or learning disorders. I also work with adults ages 18+ for therapy. I use an integrated approach to treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and women's issues. My biggest priorities are making my clients feel that they are in a safe environment and helping them to understand we are a team, working towards a common goal. When conducting psychological evaluations I strive to help clients better understand their own unique strengths and weaknesses and support them by providing recommendations and resources.
