As a PhD Clinical Psychologist for over 25 years, I have worked with a wide range of patients including executives, veterans, students and parents. While everyone is unique, my approach to treatment generally focuses on helping the patient understand the connections between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors so that they ultimately can gain better control over all of them and find the personal meaning in their life. I have several areas of specialization. These include, attention disorders, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Post-covid Syndrome, chronic pain, psychological issues related to medical illnesses and disability, unexplained illness, depression and anxiety. My published research includes work in many of these areas. My training has included both intensive study of neuropsychology/cognitive rehabilitation and psychoanalytic post- doctoral coursework. I am a licensed counselor with over 10 years experience working in the mental health community. I utilize an eclectic clinical focus, comprised of components of CBT, solution-focused, and holistic approaches to assist in achieving goals and identified needs. My empathetic, yet direct approach has assisted in creating strong therapeutic relationships with new moms, adults, teens, children, and families. My passion for maternal mental health began after the birth of her second child, where finding help was like finding a needle in a haystack. I decided that providers should accessible and readily available. I received my perinatal mental health certification through Postpartum Support International to help other moms in the throws of motherhood. I believe that all individuals should have a voice that is validated, respected, and included. I offer you to reach out to schedule a free consultation to determine if we are a good fit.

Truth is essential to our mental integrity. Full access to the "truths" embedded in our personal stories and the emotions, beliefs and healthy impulses they engender make us "whole". They form the basis of our identity, resilience, self-worth; our very well being. The problem: our "truths" sometimes appear overwhelmingly painful, disheartening and/or terrifying, particularly if safe/trustworthy people haven't been available to help. In order to cope, real feelings are buried, "looking good" facades created and the past (consciously) ignored. Unfortunately, dissociating these truths creates a life that lacks choice and is instead stubbornly ruled by the past. Years of training in psychodrama, EMDR and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy have taught me that simply "talking" about problems is an inefficient way to promote change. In my work, I will accompany you through the process of regaining access to your innate strengths and resources. Together, we can come to terms with avoided emotions, thoughts, and memories that have kept you stuck, transforming anger to assertiveness, fear to self protection, grief to acceptance and apathy to passion. With the missing pieces back in place, your focus in life can move from surviving to thriving.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 10 years experience in mental health who is passionate about helping others process difficult life experiences and find healing through connection, inner exploration, and bodily awareness. I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you, and I believe that there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Seeking a therapist can be the first step to getting where you want to be. You are aware of your challenges, stuck in patterns of thought, action or inaction that you can't seem to escape. Your life, and/or the relationship you want, is waiting for you, but you can't get to it. There's something on the other side of this feeling, as if you are missing something. I offer creative, practical treatment that promotes resilience and helps you build the life you imagine using an engaged, creative approach. When you feel you no longer need to see me, and you trust the coping skills and perspective you have developed, our work is complete, and that is my goal for our work together. I'm licensed in NY/CA/NJ and PA. I work in Schema Therapy, which aims to help you find adaptive ways to meet your emotional needs. Schemas are broad, organizing beliefs our minds create to make sense out reality. We all have them, and they inform our every move. Combined with coping skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), my other specialty, our work blends insight with action steps. The therapy space is a safe, soothing environment, an oasis where you can explore what you more commonly hold inside. We will co-create a map of YOU, using insight, metaphor, stories, guided exercises, role play, DBT coping skills, nature, and creative writing and journaling. My style is engaged and relational, direct and creative. Each session is a journey.

Some days, getting out of bed can feel like an impossible task. You may have thoughts about what the day will bring and feel dread. When you do get out of bed, perhaps, you begin a count down to the weekend or even to the end of the day. It’s getting harder to find motivation to fulfill your duties at work and home. You put a pause on personal goals. You may feel disconnected or find yourself snapping at others over little things. Frequent thoughts like: “I can’t seem to figure out what is wrong. I need to pull it together. Why can’t things be different?”- may live in your head rent free! This is unpleasant and certainly isn't you. Take a moment and imagine if that wasn’t the case. What would your life look like? Would you feel what you do matters and has purpose? Would you feel more focused and motivated to get things done? Would things that are not working for you disappear? If you have an idea of what this would look like but you don’t know how to get there, I can help. I know it's hard to feel stuck. As a counselor, it is my job to get you “unstuck”. During my 9 years of experience, I find that an integrative approach allows me to effectively collaborate with you, as partners, to create change in your life.
