I often find myself meeting with clients who are struggling with feelings and behaviors that have come to the surface without them knowing why. I see this a lot in my work with adolescents, adults and couples. For many, life has become more complicated than they expected it would and no one should have to navigate that complexity alone. I believe in the relationship between the client and therapist and have witnessed it lead to growth and change. If you are looking to try therapy, please pursue it. My hope is that you would experience the real, meaningful change that therapy can provide us all.

Stressed? All out of emotional energy by the end of the day? Struggling to focus? I work with adults to help manage stress and emotions so that day to day life feels less exhausting. I have experience helping individuals with ADHD, anxiety, and trauma find solutions that make their life feel easier. I aim to help them understand how they make sense, how to offer themselves compassion, and how to work through the areas in life that feel overwhelming. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I use several models of therapy including CBT, Solutions Focused, and EMDR. I have a laid back client-centered approach to therapy and work hard to create a space for my clients to feel safe and supported. Starting therapy can feel like a big step! I want to help make that first step as easy for you as possible. For lots of people making phone calls can take a lot of emotional energy, so sending me an email is a great way to reach out without having to find the energy it can take to make a call.

Welcome! I have several therapeutic interests, including couples work and working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar symptoms (depression and mania), trauma histories, performance issues (e.g., sexual, work, athletic, and academic), relational or personality problems, and spirituality issues. Assessment Interests: I provide evaluation services for children (8+) and adults who are suspected to have ADHD, learning/academic disorders, intellectual disabilities, mood disorders, and personality disorders. See more about my practice, view my openings, and schedule an appointment online at okpsychcenter.com. I believe all can benefit from the dialogues that occur in therapy. I operate from a relational perspective centered on the views and contexts of the people I work with. In this way, I adapt existing theoretical paradigms such as psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and dialectical behavioral theories to fit the work we aim to accomplish. Most people describe me as helpful, attentive, compassionate, and deeply engaged. As a part of my empowerment paradigm, I greatly value your input as we determine the plans and goals that will bring you a sense of relief, confidence, and fulfillment in the future. I look forward to getting to know you soon!

Counseling provides the opportunity for growth and self-discovery in the context of a safe, supportive, and therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic orientation draws on several counseling theories. Together the client and I work to identify thoughts and beliefs that may impact feelings, as well as deepen their understanding of choices they make and patterns in their life. Basic to my approach is a respect for a person and his or her ability to grow and change. I believe people possess a desire to heal and grow. I have worked in the behavior health field for over 20 years. My experience and training includes working with adults, adolescents, and children seeking individual or group counseling in a community mental health or home based setting. My formal education prepared me to counsel individual adolescents, adults, groups and couples. I have experience working with Trauma and use EMDR to help heal the injury and move the client forwards towards their life goals.

I'm a psychologist who is able to treat a variety of issues, including binge eating, emotional eating, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. I also work with related difficulties, including uncontrollable emotions, weight loss, and trauma. I've published research in these areas, and as a professor have trained future researchers and clinicians in them as well. All treatments I use are based on strong research to support their effectiveness - including cognitive-behavioral therapies, acceptance and mindfulness-based treatment, dialectical behavior therapy, and exposure therapy. My practice is intentionally small, so I can provide the best care possible to every client. As such, I respond to all e-mails and calls within one business day (usually same day). I am a member of PsyPact, and do teletherapy in most states. I am directly licensed in UT and OK. I only work with adults ages 18 and older. I know it can be hard to believe that things can change, to reach out, and to ask for help - especially if your symptoms have been present for a long time. There is hope that you can live the life you want without suffering. We can work together to get you there. Please e-mail for a free consultation.

I believe in transparency and honesty. I have experienced my own difficulties and challenges in life after 22 years in the U.S. Army and I am in recovery from PTSD and substance abuse. Nobody wakes up one morning and decides to be addicted to substances. It just happens. We are not weak, defective, useless, worthless, morally corrupt, or any other disparaging comments often said about individuals with a Substance Use Disorder. We are loving individuals that are just hurting inside. We want what everyone else wants....to just be accepted and needed for who we are. I use an eclectic approach to therapy; including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement, Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Just as each one of us are unique with our own individualistic personalities, I too believe therapy should be tailored to the individual. There is no one model that fits everyone. I have been there. After my return from my third combat deployment, I began abusing prescription medication and alcohol. Fortunately, I was blessed with the opportunity to get help. This journey has led me to dedicating my life to helping others experiencing similar difficulties. I don't have all of the answers, but I do know the way out.

You were born to be loved, healthy and whole. Welcome to healing which is defined as “to make or become whole again; to restore to original purity in mind, body and spirit”. I know if you are reading this, you are considering healing and a change for yourself that will lead to a better quality of life and relationships. “It’s when we start working together, that the real healing takes place”, David Hume. If you are experiencing a life transition, loss, lack of purpose or feel exhausted all the time, you will benefit from believing you are worthy of a happy and healthier life, as well as learn some tools to get there. I am trained to provide EMDR therapy, a well-researched and effective therapy for trauma often taking power out of traumatic events that have happened in your life. It also provides the opportunity to “install” internal resources such as confidence, courage, and inner strength that you have and might not be connected to in a time of distress. I am dedicated to provide a place of safety, non-judgment, and trust to create a relationship that allows honesty, open mindedness and willingness (H.O.W.) which is essential for change. I respect your interest in therapy and look forward to talking with you about your unique needs so that you can begin the journey to healing.
