Hi there! I am SO glad that you are here. I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma that was experienced either in childhood or later in life, and the numerous things that often follow. For some individuals this looks like healing shame, anxiety, depression, grief, difficulty with connection or attachment in relationships, struggles with intimacy or trust, addictions or compulsive behaviors, disordered eating, and a multitude of other things. I believe healing occurs best in supported connection. I work to create a safe space where you feel comfortable examining beliefs and behaviors that may no longer serve you and begin the process of healing. I’ve been where you are. I know the struggles of feeling stuck and overwhelmed as well as the joy and light that can exist on the other side. I take a collaborative approach to the counseling relationship and am in no way a "sit-and-nod" therapist! I believe fully that YOU are the expert on your life and my hope is to help guide your journey to healing and growth while promoting your autonomy and power of choice.

You’re overlooking yourself while over-extending for others, and you're over it. Tasks, responsibilities, and commitments pile on, and you're left wondering what contortions your schedule will make to fit them all in. You're getting that “running on empty” memo from fatigue. And as you take time with the people that matter most to you, it’s hard not to be distracted by stress and worry which has you missing out on enjoying the moment fully. Life may be feeling like you're trying to take a deep and satisfying breath but it falls short because it feels blocked. And here is where we cross paths! I work with those who’ve suppressed their needs, hushed their voices, and dampened their self-expression. Those grappling with their sense of worth and tugging internally with opposing feelings of “enough-ness.” I work with burned-out perfectionists, high-achievers, givers, people-pleasers, and “Imposters” seeking authentic connections and acceptance. I offer collaborative, holistic and culturally-considerate therapy. I can guide your self-exploration and understanding, and offer practical tools for self-awareness, calm, and clear communication. And to heal trauma and release emotional aches, I can offer mind+body therapy. Visit my website to learn more, schedule a free consultation, and to get started.

In addition to treating general difficulties with anxiety, depression, and life stress/transitions, I have unique experience in helping patients who have suffered from the effects of both recent and remote trauma as well as patients coping with psychotic symptoms who are adjusting to a new psychiatric diagnosis. I also help patients and caregivers navigate life transitions following a diagnosis of a neurological illness or head injury. I approach treatment by collaborating with the individual to find the best way forward. Some patients' difficulties respond best to structured approach, while others benefit from an exploratory, relationship-based therapy. I frequently integrate mindfulness-based techniques when treating trauma, psychosis, difficulties managing intense emotions, and life changes. I also perform tailored therapeutic assessments and psychological evaluations integrating personal history with objective data. I conduct diagnostic interviews and utilize various forms of personality and intellectual assessments. When indicated I can also integrate cognitive screening measures to determine the need for formal neuropsychological evaluation referrals.

Accepting new clients in person or telehealth. There are times when it feels like your mood takes over your life and those around you are noticing some changes. You even notice the changes. You may have difficulty completing day to day tasks. Sleep which used come easy is now something you dread. You've noticed the smallest thing sets you off. In some cases, these changes just happen. Other times, an event happens and now you think about life before and how life is after the event. It can be traumatic event or loss. In the majority of cases, therapy is not forever. It is important to find the right therapist for you. I work with each client to learn more about their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. We identify what barriers are getting in the way. Together we identify how they would like life to be different and learn tools to manage these intense feelings. Plus, clients can share what they want in session. It's helpful to talk to to a mental health professional. Showing up for the intake session can be hard. We'll discuss what is bringing you to counseling right now. Sessions are scheduled weeekly initially. As progress is made, we meet every other week. I check in with parents/caregivers every third session or as needed. Change doesn't happen overnight. You get out of it what you put into it.

As a psychotherapist I strive to assist my clients in the process of becoming more whole in all aspects of their lives. My primary training is as an art therapist and I use an integrative approach to promote healing. I find that enhancing talk therapy with experiential methods gives my clients the freedom to express their deepest selves. Within the therapeutic relationship we can find the existing internal nuances and textures that make us all unique and valuable. My work includes seeing individual adults who have depression/anxiety, past trauma, addiction related issues and relationship challenges. I have worked with clients who have difficulty articulating deep emotions stemming from early life experiences as well as those with more cognitive and current issues. Often past experiences can impact a person's thoughts and behaviors and cause conflicts in the present. Attaining personal power is releasing that which controls us. I've worked with clients from many stages of life using art, EMDR, body awareness, vizualization and relaxation methods to help ease stress and integrate repressed material. I work with clients through experiential processes to reveal unconscious material that prevents self-acceptance. Clients build confidence and discover new meaning and purpose in life.
