I started my career as a Social Worker in 2001 in an emergency department with just a BSW. I returned to school to earn an MSW and open up more opportunities, specifically to work in schools. After working in 5 different districts across Washington State as a School Social Worker, School Counselor and as a Prevention/Intervention Specialist, I shifted gears toward earning my license as an Independent Clinical Social Worker. During this time working in schools, I had a tragic life experience of having my baby die in the hospital at her time of birth and I came close to my own death giving birth. This led to the creation of a project I've led for the last 16 years to show care to other bereaved mothers. I was also a part of an expert parent panel on infant death for the WSU School of Nursing and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for several years. Now, I want to do more. I have researched trauma and grief my whole career. My personal passion and my professional experience are now joined in the work as I focus on becoming the local expert as a therapist in grief; specifically bereaved parents. I'm excited about the world of neuroscience and how it impacts the way people heal. Looking forward to being more of a resource in my community as I just moved back to where I grew up.

I am on maternity leave until April 1st, and I will be open to taking new clients at that time. My goal is to provide ethical, identity affirming, evidence based care for people looking to better their life and improve their mental health. I thoroughly believe that clients are the experts in their own experience and in what they need in order to be well. My therapy style is one that is collaborative, and person-centered. My approach is influenced by training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Parts Work, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), Somatic Experiencing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I feel so honored to get to be a therapist and walk alongside clients as they process their life experiences and grow their insight into doing what works best for them.

I know the path of healing that I have created. Born two months early, I haven't ever, consistently and truly felt safe. My nervous system didn't have true co-regulation, and my mom had to stay in a different hospital. Growing up in a loud family (lots of yelling), and then having people's imposed high expectations to become my own perfectionism. We can only push for so long... My crash came almost 10 years ago, I was an alcoholic with depression, and became so shame-filled and overwhelmed, I attempted suicide. My bottom was low. My goal is to help people begin to learn to slowly titrate a safe co-regulative space, which begins with small cues of safety, becoming safe enough to trust, and as I draw their own resources from within them, they learn how to notice, name, and get to know parts of themselves they may not even think about; those learned pattern from childhood. I have landed and stayed in recovery, and I also understand the need to numb out the overwhelm feels incredibly dangerous, because of the stress it causes in our system. And because the mind and body are energetically connected, so we need to work with both. My passion is from experience, and my mission is to create safety in individuals, communities, schools... to build less reactivity between us, reaching wider and wider audiences, to create openness and stop 'us vs them'. Humans are messy. So, lets create a safe container where we can be messy with each other.
