I am passionate about working with the intricate stories of struggle and growth as one enhances their self-awareness, reinvents themselves, and creates deeper, more meaningful relationships. I work with individuals across the lifespan and have specialized in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, insomnia, OCD, traumatic stress, and the impact of dementia on caregivers and families. I offer an integrative, insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approach that is organized around the ideas of growth and healing. I carefully listen to the ways in which the past has inadvertently been re-created in the here and now situations that cause pain and heartache. Please reach out to schedule a 15min brief and free consultation so we can both assess if we are a good match.

During the course of our lives we experience many joys and hardships, and along with them the full range of human emotions. Each moment and feeling is an opportunity to better understand self, other, and the world. Your painful feelings may be signals that old wounds need to be acknowledged or that your truth is not being lived fully. If you are currently struggling to cope with life challenges, feeling unfulfilled or seeking personal growth, the therapeutic relationship can provide an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere to explore the body and mind in a safe, comfortable space. View 8 Photos I work with adults and couples impacted by childhood trauma, intrusive thoughts, anxiety and panic, relationship issues, codependency, identity confusion, low self esteem, and grief/loss. I believe therapy is useful for everyone, whether you are struggling to cope with general life stressors or want to work on becoming your best self. I discovered early in my career that traditional talk therapy doesn’t work best for everyone. I draw on ancient practices, Eastern medicine and evidence-based research to awaken your innate healing potential. If you’re ready to try something different from traditional psychotherapy, I may be a great fit for you!

Life presents many circumstances that can be difficult for any person to navigate on their own. We aren’t born with the emotional regulation skills or coping skills needed to deal with the complexities of this fast-paced, high-pressure society. Some days we may be consumed with negative thoughts that hinder us from being who we want to be. Some days we are flooded with big emotions that are hard to control and seem to overpower us. Some days we experience worries that seem so big that it's hard for us to function. View 5 Photos I offer a safe, therapeutic space for children, adolescents, and young adults to get in touch with their inner self and develop tools to help them through life’s challenges. For parents, I offer support and resources. For clients looking for neurological causes for their symptoms and for services to optimize their brain, I offer EEG-guided neurofeedback. Meeting with a new therapist can feel intimidating and scary. A trusting relationship built with a therapist is critical for therapeutic success. I aim to be that confidant in your life who you can trust and feel comfortable talking to.

I work with clients whose psychological issues cross the boundaries between brain, body, mind, and spirit. Special interests are the broad spectrum of ADHD and related brain differences, and the stress caused by living with these in a misunderstanding society. My approach integrates mindfulness practices, attention and working memory training, with depth psychology (dreamwork, a symbolic and imaginative approach to life, seeking meaning beneath constriction). Because neuropsychological issues raise questions of meaning, self-worth, and place in the world, these are central to my work. Unfortunately, our culture often sees ADHD as laziness or irresponsibility rather than what it is: a brain difference with positive as well as negative potentials. I help clients understand and challenge this distortion. The uniqueness of my approach is that I integrate cognitive-behavioral practices like breathing, executive function training, and neurofeedback with depth psychological therapy and mindfulness. The mind and body exist in a profound relationship of mutual influence; therefore, it is most effective to work with both at once.

Many of us seek out therapy for different reasons; to gain better insight about ourselves and others, to be able to see the bigger picture more clearly, or to meet specific goals. I aim to offer a space where you can share without holding back, and without judgment, and where we can collaborate in gaining insight into impactful, long-held patterns and beliefs. I believe that therapy can offer a space to practice being open, vulnerable, and expressive. Ultimately, I work to support you in strengthening your abilities to cope, communicate, and problem solve in healthy ways, while you uncover and develop your inner wisdom and strengths.

Alternative Behavioral Therapy specializes in the integration of talk therapy and Neurofeedback which is commonly used for the treatment and normalization of ADHD. We can incorporate this practice into PTSD, depression, sleep disorders, learning disabilities, anxiety, and much more. For those adept in this field, we practice Infra-low, SMR training, theta/beta ratio, and alpha-theta deep state processing as well as ISF (Infra-slow frequency training). For disorders resulting from trauma, EMDR may be incorporated as deemed appropriate. Other modality options may include Play Therapy or life coaching as well. View 4 Photos Neurofeedback (EEG Biofeedback) is the training of mental states using classical/operant conditioning. Electrodes are placed on the head and brain wave behavior is recorded. A computer feeds back light and sound to exercise the brain. An individual can learn how to control their own mental state with the help of this feedback process. Neurofeedback is a growing field and has been well researched and has been given great praise by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Every year we are learning new ways to use this incredible approach. Free consultations can be scheduled on our website.

English | español So much of life is learning to deal with the cards we’ve been given. I love seeing people not only deal with the cards they’ve been given, but turn them into amazing card castles. I want to help those that seek to get unstuck grow toward their best selves, have great relationships and enjoy lives filled with joy. I like to use well-researched therapeutic techniques that have been proven to help people grow. In couples therapy that means drawing from the research of John Gottman. In family and individual therapy that means an integrative approach - utilizing practical therapeutic tools that help clients achieve their goals. I am great at helping people find their way out of stuck places. For individuals that means encouraging and equipping you to address whatever hurdles you face. I help couples find their way back to one another utilizing the Gottman approach. And I lead "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work," workshop by John Gottman. Life can get really hard and I've been there. Let me help you overcome whatever challenge you're facing right now. Please call or message me and let's gets started!

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults who have neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, and Autism (ASD); Anxiety Disorders including (OCD), Social Anxiety, Phobias, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); developmental trauma, academic and work related problems, addictions, sleep problems, pain disorders, head/brain injury, age-related cognitive decline, pain disorders, migraines, and other problems. The good news is mental health is brain health, and by working together we can use your strengths to address your challenges via counseling and neurotherapy. Every Neurotherapy client starts with a qEEG Brain Map, which gives invaluable information related to how your brain is functioning. The measure of electrical activity in the brain helps to understand the brain’s strengths and weaknesses. The most cutting-edge Neurotherapy equipment is used to maximize our work and individualize your plan. Working in conjunction with the brain as it learns to self-regulate through neurotherapy, the mind is the focus of counseling. My approach to counseling is a collaborative effort between client and therapist. We can all benefit from optimizing our brains. Feel free to call or email me so we can work together to enhance your brain health.
