Seeking an intentional space for healing and discovery is a meaningful choice. Through curiosity, warmth, and honesty, I work collaboratively to support clients in connecting their history, relationships, environment, to their current challenges and future goals. I believe that all of our stories are contextual, therefore I work towards identifying oppression-based barriers and explore the environmental impact through an anti-oppressive and liberation lens. My focus is to create a space where you can be empowered, express your pain, learn new ways of coping, and continue to grow into your most authentic self. My therapy approach is integrative, client centered, & depth oriented. I have special interest and experience with LGBTQIA+ individuals, trauma survivors, polyamorous/CNM & kink/BDSM relationships, neurodivergent folks, & artists. I enjoy working with a range of concerns: identity development, depression, anxiety, relationships, substance use, & self-harm. I welcome people from all backgrounds and lived experiences. I am interested in co-creating space with you that challenges dominating narratives and structures and actively works to counter oppressive systems (i.e. racism, transphobia, homophobia, classism, & ableism). I can be contacted through my listed number, email, or website.

My couples appts are currently full and I do not keep a waiting list - I will update this information when couples appts become available. There are times in life when the coping skills that we have are no longer effective and the things that you thought that you moved past are somehow staring you in the face. I provide a comfortable atmosphere to discover skills to tackle old and new "things". I enjoy working with adults and couples. My area of interests include anxiety, depression, marital concerns, PTSD, and trauma. I incorporate CBT, DBT, EMDR, and AEDP into my practice. When working with couples I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman curriculum. My goal is to partner with clients to explore the skills they desire to focus on in their broad situations and life experiences. I will be most successful in treating a client who is having difficulty with emotions--such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief--and who is willing to make a commitment to work on changing thinking patterns, behavioral patterns and emotional patterns that are causing misery and distress. This potentially successful client will not just be talking about problems each session, he or she will be learning, practicing and applying new skills. If my client needs medication, I will arrange a medication evaluation by our nurse practitioner, but mainly we will focus on skills, not pills! I have been a psychiatric nurse since 1971, but became an advanced practice nurse (a nurse-therapist) in 1989. I have broad experience-- working with serious mental illness in the state hospital and working in out-patient clinics with people of all ages and all types of problems. Our clinic is small and comfortable. You will be treated like our guest. Your therapy experience will be unique and you will be pleased with your results.

Please e-mail, to be placed on waitlist. After 15 years working with community-based, non-profit agencies in multiple roles as well as about 20 years working with vulnerable youth, I am happily dedicated to private practice care. My practice is centered around whole-person treatment. Together, we will explore root causes to your symptoms, the narrative of your family system, process old trauma and develop healthy coping skills to manage your symptoms. Trauma, OCD, Generalized Anxiety and Codependency Treatment, are my primary specialties, and I look forward to learning about and helping you identify your unique goals for therapy. I find that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Trauma-Focused CBT as well as Short-term, Solution Focused Therapy, are efficient in the goal-setting process for most clients. I also use Narrative Therapy and Depression Treatment Quality Improvement (DTQI) methods to support reducing Depression. Treatment is not one-size fits all. My approach is to hold empathy, compassion and work from the stance that everyone can grow into the person they want to be. I do my best to be real and infuse humor in my style of therapy. I believe in humility and appropriate self-disclosure, but the focus is always on you! If you would like a free-consult, please e-mail for the fastest response!

Today was the worst day of your life. You feel like you want to blow things up and then to put the icing on the cake your belt loop hooked on the door handle and ripped your favorite pair of jeans. You're fed up and don’t have the best set of coping skills. You turn to substances or impulsive behavior. You’re sick and tired of feeling like you don’t have a safe place to be yourself and work through your crap. I see you and I have been there too. It’s scary to think about what life could look like once you find a new way to process the things you’re dealing with in a healthy and safe way. "There's no shame in being afraid. Hell, we're all afraid. What you gotta do is figure out what you're afraid of because when you put a face on it, you can beat it. Better yet, you can use it.” I am a recent graduate from Bellevue University. I have worked in psychiatric mental institutions for children, and in rehabs where I have gained four years of experience with many different types of teens and young adults with various mental health and substance abuse challenges. Hello! I want to help you get back to living your life as soon as possible. You'll find me to be passionate about providing a safe, confidential, supportive, and collaborative environment for you. My approach is influenced by my values of honesty, responsibility, accountability, compassion, and respect. I practice primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective meaning I focus closely on the interconnectedness of your thoughts/beliefs/values, feelings, and behaviors to help you work toward your goals. I treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship issues. Also, I have worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. I am currently participating in PSYPACT which allows me the privilege of practicing virtually in 36 states (and growing). Finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. I specialize in working with adults with eating disorders and disordered eating, and the conditions that often co-occur with eating concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and trauma. I also have an extensive research background in chronic fatigue syndrome (sometimes called myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME/CFS) and have worked on multiple NIH-funded studies; I am aware of the unique challenges faced by individuals living with ME/CFS and other poorly understood, stigmatized health conditions. I provide evidence-based interventions that are tailored to my client’s needs and progress. I have experience working in eating disorder residential/day programs, university counseling centers, and community mental health centers. As a community psychologist, I also have a strong commitment to social justice, to working with those whose identities have been marginalized, and to understanding the impact of cultural/social context on mental health. I believe that establishing a collaborative, safe, and trusting relationship is the foundation of any effective therapy. In therapy, clients will learn new skills and strategies for coping with life’s demands and will gain insight into what contributes to and maintains unfulfilling behavioral, emotional, and relational patterns.

If we have learned anything from the pandemic, it is that we all need and thrive in relationships. Therapy is an important tool for developing and nurturing positive relationships, both with others and with yourself. Using my training as a marriage and family therapist, my life experiences and love of people, I foster a safe, warm, non-judgmental environment. Collaboratively we can build resiliency as we discover and heal the obstacles that interfere with you having a deeper, more meaningful life. I enjoy working with both couples and individuals who are grappling with a variety of life challenges; life changes, including health issues, career goals, trauma, loss, anxiety or mood disorders. I view the therapeutic relationship as collaborative, and I strive to create a secure space for you to deepen your self-awareness, cultivate sustainable coping strategies, and clarify your values. I often work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, disordered eating habits, body image distress, or life transitions. Many clients enter therapy with a desire to feel more connected to themselves. In our work, we will identify the ways in which you may be engaging in avoidance or other unhelpful patterns. In our process, you will reconnect with what you need to experience a more vibrant and fulfilling life. I utilize behavioral therapy approaches of ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). In our work, we will continually explore your internal experience patterns. I often use engaging metaphors, mindfulness exercises, and other therapeutic activities to guide our sessions. Choosing a therapist is an important decision. I appreciate you taking the time to review my profile!
