Traumatic experiences exact a heavy toll, and not just in the moment. Symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD) can last for weeks, months, even years after the event. I would be honored to walk the path of healing with you, supporting you as you reclaim your vitality and establish a genuine sense of connection with yourself, others, your body, and your soul. While my therapeutic approach is eclectic, Somatic Experiencing is foundational to my work. SE is a body-oriented and naturalistic approach to the resolution and healing of trauma, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. By supporting you to connect with your body and develop trust in its innate capacity to heal, we can access and address the trauma that lingers in your nervous system. This allows you to work through painful feelings of anger, guilt, or shame, as well as somatic symptoms like headaches, chronic pain, digestive distress, and sleep difficulties. My clients have included adults abused as children, domestic and sexual violence survivors, veterans, first responders, those leaving high-control groups, incarcerated offenders, and LGBTQ+ people, among others. It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help; for that, I commend you. I look forward to partnering with you on your healing journey.

Almost all of my clients have one thing in common. They want better, gentler, more fulfilling relationships. Whether they are struggling from the effects of trauma, working to enrich or save a marriage, navigating the divorce process, dealing with depression and/or anxiety, learning new social skills, or simply trying to be better parents, they want a deeper and more peaceful sense of connection with themselves and others. My clients are intelligent and thoughtful people who tend to connect with the natural world. They are often seeking to grow as well as to heal. They want to thrive rather than simply survive. I see my job as helping you create peace from the inside out. I do this by combining deep trauma work (using Brainspotting and/or equine therapy) , with nuts and bolts relational skills coaching. I enjoy developing honest high integrity relationships with my clients. My professional style is warm and direct and I tend to cut to the chase. I know choosing a therapist can be hard. I would be honored to earn your trust and help you in your journey.

Life can be messy at times for all of us. We can get lost in the chaos and the changes that happen daily. What I can help you do is embrace the chaos, the messiness and learn to focus on the present day. I would love the opportunity to partner with you as you work through life's challenges and develop a new attitude. Have you ever considered that perhaps, you were created for a time like this? At the core of my therapeutic technique is the strengths' perspective along with person-centered therapy and CBT and DBT skills training. I am genuine and passionate about meeting my clients where they are, and helping them get to where they want to be. Another passion of mine is utilizing horses in the therapeutic process. I am now Eagala certified. "Everyone has a voice and deserves to be heard. People, regardless of where they have been, should be treated with dignity and worthiness, and I feel it's my calling to help them experience this first hand."

I am a licensed clinical social worker and somatic practitioner with a passion for nature-based services, spiritual practices, and expressive arts. People are free to discover and share their life experiences in a safe and honoring environment. Sharing one's pain and experiences can be hard, and I strive to be a compassionate, warm and understanding listener. Each person's life story is sacred, and there are a myriad of gifts waiting to be discovered and embraced. Much of my work is with Highly Sensitive People and empathic intuitives. View 16 Photos Part of what makes my approach unique is that I specialize in somatic practices and nature-based therapy (ecotherapy). This type of therapy involves sessions that are outside and may include walking, hiking, and other activities. Ecotherapy sessions take place at my office at Wilder-Nest Retreats located in the foothills west of Fort Collins near Masonville. As a somatic practitioner, I believe that trauma is experienced and stored in the body. The mind tends to shut down trauma experiences without allowing full sequencing of the trauma. Using a variety of techniques, I assist people in re-establishing a sense of safety and allowing trauma to be released.

Sessions are currently available, in office and equine assisted psychotherapy. I inherently care about helping you and value your unique life. I'm not a passive counselor who leans back in her chair behind a clipboard muttering an occasional “um-hum.” I am genuinely interested in hearing your story and helping you discover tools and insights to heal and grow. I view you as the expert of your own life and can help you explore patterns and beliefs, help challenge and inspire you and find solutions for change. My ultimate goal is to work with you to create empowerment, freedom and joy in your life. I have worked with a wide variety of mental health challenges but it is very important to me to focus not on the diagnosis, but on the person in front of me. My approach is customized to each individual I work with, and clients come away feeling respected and valued rather than just treated like another client in a lineup. Please reach out to me with any questions you have. I have worked for 20 years as a coach and am honored to have the opportunity to now help in the field of mental health. I work at the office in Kalispell as well as at the stable. I'm supervised by Christine Hurst.

You’ve experienced a great loss or significant trauma and your world feels dark and confusing. You feel lost, overwhelmed, anxious, angry, numb, and exhausted – often all at the same time. You’re wondering who you are now and if you’ll ever feel like yourself again. I get it. I’ve experienced it. Grief and traumatic stress are messy and unruly, and they definitely don’t obey clearly defined stages or fit neatly into any timeframe. Still, as painful as this is to hear, grief is normal, natural, and necessary. And, healing from a traumatic experience is possible. You don’t have to face either alone. I’d be honored to walk with you. While I don’t have magic words to quickly end your anguish or cure your grief (because those words don’t exist), what I do offer is a place where it can be truly seen. A place to honor your love, your loss, and your experience, speak without fear of judgment, be respected for the pace and shape of your journey, and feel supported along the way. I use office-based and equine-assisted counseling to help you identify healthy ways of acknowledging your grief or trauma, coping with it, and learning to carry it when you’re ready to move forward. Ultimately, we’ll work together to help you feel like your life has meaning and purpose that honors your experience and isn’t solely defined by it.

I also serve as a Person-Centered Clinical Supervisor for individuals seeking to become independently licensed therapists in the state of Arizona using individual and group supervision models.
