Life is complicated. Despite our best efforts, there are days where we all feel unhappy, anxious, and inadequate. Some of our struggles are results of our choices, but many of the hardships we face exist as a result of the way our loved ones and life circumstances treat us. Hardship can come in many forms - depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, and unhappy relationships. Sadly, life rarely pauses when we are struggling, and we are expected to keep functioning as professionals, parents, partners, and friends. This pressure can sometimes feel suffocating and can make an already difficult situation worse. While I cannot change how the world treats you, I can help you develop the skills, strength, and resilience needed to overcome hardships and strengthen your relationships with the people most important to you. Deep down inside, we all know the person we want to be - the right therapist can work with you to help you become that person. I utilize strengths-based and client-centered approaches in the counseling space, but I always tailor my approach to the person or couple in front of me. Each of us has life experiences that make us unique, and I will work alongside you to ensure that ours is a successful and effective partnership. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

I believe that in therapy, the focus should first be on learning to gain acceptance of ourselves. I feel that our beliefs about ourselves are paramount because they shape the beliefs that we have about other people and in turn, the rest of our environment. After we identify the beliefs about ourselves that need to be adjusted, we can work on how to improve those beliefs, which will improve our interactions with others and the way that we see the world. I look forward to helping others with that process. View 5 Photos Another focal point of therapy is to examine the way that we develop our identities based on our perceptions of where we come from and what we have been through in life. Everyone has the opportunity to improve their sense of self by improving how they develop their respective identity. I am a real down to Earth person and my motto is that you should always entertain the possibility that you might be wrong - which I also practice daily. Although it isn't something that comes naturally to most, its something that, once you practice, can change your relationships and your life for the better.

I started in the field working as a substance abuse counselor intern conducting group therapy and individual therapy in an IOP/PHP setting. I had the experience working with court mandated clients. I have also worked in an inpatient substance abuse setting where I also conducted groups, facilitated lectures on recovery topics and provided individual therapy and case management. Following this position, I found myself in outpatient mental where I gained the most clinical experience working with a diverse population and treating a variety of issues. I have worked with children as young as 10, adolescents and adults up to age 65. My approach when treating all clients is tailored. I tend to be primarily cognitive based in my approach but I will often bring in other approaches from person centered, solutions focused, or REBT. Raising healthy and happy children with ADHD can be a big job, but the good news is that you do not have to do it alone. There is a lot that can be done to help! ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that impacts each child differently. ADHD has little to do with how "smart" your child might be, but it has a lot to do with your child's ability to regulate their attention, mood, and behaviors. When symptoms of ADHD lead to lower self-esteem, mental health concerns, behavioral challenges, or academic struggles, it is a good time to seek professional help. I am an Art Therapist and a Licensed Mental Health Professional with a passion for helping children with ADHD reach their fullest potential. I offer child-based services that focus on building self-esteem, teaching skills, and re-igniting a passion for learning. I also offer parent-based services that offer guidance, education, support, and training. Children with ADHD can have an excellent quality of life, but they often need extra support along the way. If you are looking for fun, compassionate, and effective strategies to help your child and your family, please give me a call. Our services can be used as the first line of treatment for ADHD or in partnership with your child's medication.
