Transitions to new roles, the loss of old ones or the stress of current roles can sometimes bring challenges, mixed emotions, difficult thoughts, and new behaviors that may surprise us. It can be hard to find stability in an ever-changing path and at times can impact our daily life and relationships. Transitions in identity to new parenting roles, new jobs, or job stress, moving away from family, or starting a new educational path can all present challenges we may not have expected. I use evidenced based therapy to help you meet your goals using values-based approaches and work towards improving your relationships in your life. My specialty areas are in women's mental health, trauma recovery, anxiety, and depression.

I'm a licensed clinical psychologist, having earned my doctorate at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Yeshiva University. I did my internship at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in at-risk populations. I completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at the William Alanson White Institute focusing on interpersonal/relational psychotherapy, as well as recently completing a 2-year program at the White Institute focused on treating eating disorders, compulsions, and addictions. I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process to help individuals gain a fresh perspective on their lives, recognize repeating patterns in their behaviors and relationships, and find new solutions for old problems. My approach is psychodynamic and eclectic, balancing both depth and real-world focus to address the unique needs of each patient at the intersection of their physical, mental, internal, external, interpersonal, and sociopolitical spheres of experience. I have a particular passion working with individuals who find themselves outside of the narrow band of supposedly “normal” identity and desire, including people who are “kinky”/involved in BDSM, polyamorous, in open relationships, queer, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and/or trans* (transitioning or not transitioning). I endeavor to use my concentrated graduate study and clinical experience in these areas to provide a warm, open, and supportive space to facilitate exploration and growth.

Great to meet you! ****TO SETUP AN IMMEDIATE APPOINTMENT PLEASE CALL ME DIRECTLY**** Hello, my name is Shane Wilson and I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist in the state of Florida. Prior to entering the field of Mental Health Counseling, I served my country for 8 years as a United States Marine, becoming an OEF veteran in 2005. Since 2016, I've had the joy of treating a variety of patients including women and children of domestic violence, clients in the community, patients dealing with psychosis, military veterans, homeless clients and patients in the prison system. A bit about my approach to therapy: As a therapist, I've learned that more than one approach is often necessary to effectively resolve multiple issues a client may be facing, which is why I utilize an Integrative Therapy approach. This multimodal-approach employs interventions and strategies from multiple perspectives that are tailor-made to each client's condition and treatment. As a result, client challenges are inclusively addressed in a supportive environment. What you can expect from our first session: My objective is for my clients to leave their sessions feeling respected, heard, understood and hopeful with more insight. Together we will work as a team to explore and set goals that will help them to not only overcome obstacles and achieve their aspirations but also reach their full potential that will lead them to a better quality of life.
