Our life experiences can lead us to question our identity and purpose in the world we live in. This can lead us to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Do you want to improve how you face challenges, function in your relationships, and face overwhelming feelings? I place heavy importance on addressing trauma. Trauma disintegrates the parts that make up your whole self, which can leave aspects of who you are hidden from your awareness. Left unaddressed, anxiety and depression can worsen, which can rob you of the necessary connection that all human beings need to thrive. I aim to help you process unresolved trauma. I believe in a holistic, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to healing anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. I draw upon CBT, narrative and solution-focused therapy to create a safe space for you to share your story, heal difficult emotions, and transcend them in order to live your desired life. I have over 10 years of experience working with adults, couples, and families in various capacities. I can help you develop practical tools to regulate intense feelings, communicate effectively with others, and develop healthy boundaries. Feel free to book a free consultation.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Supervisor in AZ, I have gained over 35 years of “intrinsic value” helping adults, couples, and groups, manage stress, trauma, grief, mood, thoughts, various addiction cycles, suicidality, self-harm, reentry, and life transitions. I provide a “trauma-informed” approach by meeting you where you’re at, validating your experience, empowering breakthroughs to barriers that may be holding you back, and walking alongside as you gain valuable tools for success. I will show you “truth” (even when hard to see) and challenge your “perspective” to facilitate a strong foundation for healing. I also serve as a Person-Centered Clinical Supervisor for individuals seeking to become independently licensed therapists in the state of Arizona using individual and group supervision models. Having done my own personal work, which I believe is imperative for all behavioral health professionals, I strive for balance and wholeness for my supervisees.

Welcome to my site. I have been working with adolescents and young adults for over 16 years. I work with teens, young adults and adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, disorder eating, OCD, phobias, ODD, suicidal ideation, ADHD, relationship issues, addiction issues, or family conflict. My therapeutic relationship with my clients is not formal therapist in a suit taking notes but more personal and informal. At times, kids have a hard time being drawn out, they aren't sure how to put their feelings into words, I am very good at helping them become comfortable expressing what's happening in their inner world. I work with clients using DBT skills, CBT exercises and talk therapy. I am open to collaborating with parents, with the client's consent, if that is deemed helpful by the teen or young adult client. Or it may be helpful for parents to see someone on our Parent Support Team in our practice. My style is active and engaging. We get to work each session to uncover what is happening for your adolescent or young adult and get to the heart of what's really going on to cause the mental health issues they are struggling with.

You just had a baby and to your unfortunate surprise, you are not well. Everything has changed from your relationship to your husband, your body, yourself and your work. It’s all now different. And while parts of it are good, like really really good, there’s something keeping you from being a better version of you and it’s creating toxicity. There is some part of you that is afraid you actually have lost your mind and there is also some part of you that is having a very hard time staying on your best behavior. Of course everything that you’re feeling is perfectly justified and that’s how it feels to you, but not one person gets it. View 10 Photos And in that deep water as you drown, you are watching life go by. Moments are passing and you are aware that you have not yet drowned. But you’re stuck in the deep dark water. I know how to get you out. I know what it’s like to be there, I know exactly what you need to do and it’s not easy. In fact, it can be really hard, but it’s worth it. You are in there. These sessions empower you to take charge of your health, to live in a more healthy relationship with yourself and truly love, and most importantly to choose your direction going forward by connecting what’s happening in the mind (your thoughts), what’s happening in your emotions (how you feel) to what’s happening in your body (your physical condition).

Addiction is not a problem to be fixed, but rather a person. I have worked with many people with various addictions and realize that addressing one problem from one perspective is not enough. I specialize in getting to know a person first and then helping that person heal from past hurts, learn skills for problem-solving, improve communication, build strong relationships, practice ways to manage strong emotions, learn to slow down and change their harmful or intrusive thoughts, draw from their faith for strength, develop strong support systems, and with all this, hope of long-term recovery can become reality. View 4 Photos I specialize in alcohol and substance addictions, as well as situations that lead to addictions, such as, chronic mental illness, PTSD, gambling, sex addiction, past trauma and abuse, chronic pain, and more. I'll teach you to manage the uncomfortable feelings rather than feeling the need to escape them. I have worked as psychologist, professor, and supervisor for over 18 years and am currently the CAO at Rhombus University, training students to become mental health therapists. I have facilitated conferences and trainings, am a CE provider, am the MFT Consortium Chair, and want to help you get from point A to point B.

Does it sometimes feel like you are not living the life you thought that you would? Or that you could be more content with your situation? Or perhaps you are having trouble making decisions about what to do next? If so, therapy can help you clarify what is important to you and what is causing you to feel stuck. I am happy to work together with you to better understand your past while also finding new ways of moving forward in a meaningful way. I am experienced in addressing issues related to anxiety, worry, role transitions, loss, anger, parenting, relationship difficulties, and career contentment. I enjoy learning about each client's individual strengths and values and using those as a focus of treatment rather than solely focusing on what is "wrong" or in need of fixing. Sometimes a specific issue is causing difficulty and sometimes it seems as if something is just not "right." Maybe you have sought treatment before or maybe this is the first time you are contacting a counselor. That's ok. Therapy can help you define what is bothering you and together we can explore solutions to help you feel confident and productive again.

*EVENING Appointments * Have you ever wondered what a psychologist does? You’re not alone! Broadly, psychologists help individuals improve emotional, physical, and social functioning. A psychologist might help a client with 1) depression, anxiety, anger, or insomnia 2) a chronic mental or physical condition negatively impacting functioning, or 3) managing acute stress/adjustment related to divorce, new job, retirement, or the death of a loved one. Support, psychoeducation, a fresh perspective, and improved coping skills can help you better manage and overcome factors interfering with your quality of life. My approach is one of brief, evidence-based treatment, from a cognitive behavioral framework. I work with individual, adult clients and my availability includes evenings. I no longer have an office for in-person visits, so I offer only telehealth visits. I do not accept insurance and the hourly rate is $150. I truly enjoy and value the work that I do. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any concerns or questions that you have. Email is the best way to reach me.
