Sometimes therapists are called the "wounded healers" because from their own life experiences they have decided to help people. I am proud to be one of those therapists. I have had a wealth of life experiences and losses and can truly empathize with my clients. I have experience in many areas of Social Work; including housing homeless people, coordinating adoptions, and advocating for pre-adjudicated youth. As a Clinical Therapist, I have worked in Home Based Therapy, Community, Residential, and Addiction. I firmly believe that these varied populations and organizations have enriched my integrative approach to therapy. View 7 Photos I believe in a Holistic Approach that incorporates Mind, Body, and, Spirit. In my office, my clients are free to be who they are and spiritually connect with whomever they chose. I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trained Therapist and utilize this approach, in conjunction with other practices, as often as possible. Above all, I want my clients to feel at ease with me and part of a partnership, working toward their ultimate goal(s). Hi, I'm Dr. Greg. Helping clients cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues is the focus of my practice. I try to maintain a balanced approach using an individual blend of theory and insight, practical applications, and humor. This can include discussions of physical, emotional, mental, and metaphysical wellbeing. Anger, work stress, frustration, loss, trauma and life's unexpected complications can get in between us and a peaceful experience of living. Assisting people in overcoming these challenges is my life's work. Please reach out to someone if it seems your life is being directed by negative emotions. Alternative therapies, including diet, nutritional supplements, mindfulness, and meditation, are available. I have been certified in EMDR since 1996 have succesfully used this to address trauma and anxiety of many different types. My personal style is typically direct and practical with an element of humor to help maintain perspective. Initially, the focus of my experience was on the treatment of trauma. Since then, I have expanded into assisting others in continuing their personal evolution despite the difficulties that anxiety, depression, and relationship issues can present. Despite any condition, I believe that it is possible to continue in our personal growth.

My clients are hard-working and desire a better quality of life. They are willing to be challenged, trying new techniques to move forward. I use information about normal developmental transitions to move people when they are stuck. The focus is on identity and spirituality as themes I weave into my work. This does not mean organized religion, rather concepts such as connections, acceptance, peace, and letting go. If you choose to combine religion and spiritualuity, for your own growth, that is your choice. I provide education and support to help clients understand their unique situations and develop individualized treatment plans to help them achieve their goals. We use your personal history to help us decipher current issues. You take the lead, set the pace, and realize your potential. I have experience in chemical dependence, eating disorders, gambling, and sex addictions. I also help family members deal with these issues, due to the enormity of the problems associated with the disease and recovery. I have of extensive experience working with anxiety/depression, young adult issues and marital counseling.

We all experience a wide variety of feelings during our life time. Uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, depression, resentment, guilt and shame are often difficult to own and process. When these feelings are not well processed, they disrupt our sense of self-esteem and self-worth. I became an LCSW in 2013 to pursue my passion to help people regain their sense of self-esteem and self-worth. In my practice, I often use therapeutic techniques such as active/empathic listening, reflection, reality testing and boundary setting. These techniques help my clients feel better about themselves and live fuller, more meaningful lives.

I believe empathy, collaboration, and motivation are vital in counseling. As a clinician, I want to learn about what has gotten you to this point. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental environment to help facilitate this. I am particularly interested in your strengths, resources, past efforts, and goals including what you feel can and can't be done. I believe most problems stem from suppressed emotions, interpersonal difficulties, environmental stressors, or distorted beliefs and assumptions. Together, we will work to select the most effective course to achieve changes you want and need. I'm a generalist and enjoy working with many presenting problems. I've been told that my calm and accepting style is particularly helpful with anxious, depressed, and grieving clients. Additionally, I am fluent in American Sign Language and have experience with many communication disorders, including hearing loss, stuttering, and dysphonia.

We all struggle with changes, but it takes a courageous person to admit that they need help. When families or individuals seek help from my practice, the clinicians are eager in taking a hands on approach and create methods in overcoming the problems. We realize that it is best for our clients to leave the office after each appointment with a gameplan and knowing that they have a partner in defeating the problems that have led them to our office. I started working with people suffering from anxiety disorders, but have branched into ADHD, eating disorders, cutting, and relationship counseling. I employ a sense of humor and an eagerness to not only learn about the client before me, but an overall desire to learn all about my client's world. I'm a very curious person by nature, so this is truly the right job for me.
