Through 20+ years of experience, I have discovered my passion for working with clients to heal the wounds of abuse or other traumas, work through family-of-origin and attachment issues, liberate from the confines of anxiety/panic/phobias/OCD, repair relational issues, develop effective boundary-drawing, transform self-concept/esteem, and grow to find peace, joy, and purpose. Drawing on a strengths-based approach, I help clients identify and more fully develop the strengths and skills they already have. From that foundation, I utilize various evidence-based therapy modalities, techniques, and interventions to help clients heal, find wellness, and flourish. I offer a compassionate understanding of who you are, how you show up in the world, and how you experience things. I am nurturing while also able to challenge long-held beliefs and patterns, which may be keeping you stuck or holding you back from the life you want to live.

Life is an ever-changing journey with so many pitfalls and struggles, it is hard to keep ahead. So many people find themselves struggling with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and other issues that keep us stuck in old patterns. Ideally, I am looking for people who want to make change, even if they feel resistant to the idea right now. Personally, I look to help those individuals who are at least contemplating growth, change, and coming out of the self-constructed safety box. We are not simply looking for the light, we are searching for the source within you. Simply put, people who want to be the favorite version on themselves. Sometimes we need new perspectives, understanding of the root causes of our issues, and someone who will empathize with us and not judge us. I offer an experienced understanding of many issues others deal with on a daily basis. I specialize in helping you to get to where you want to be, to become the favorite version of yourself. This journey is hard for so many, and I understand sometimes we need a guide through the maze. There is nothing I enjoy more than watching people reach new levels in their lives. Let's work together as team to help you reach the favorite version of yourself. No judgement, just support. I promise there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I work with clients who feel stuck—whether that’s in their relationships, thoughts, careers, or life in general. My goal is to help you feel less stuck by providing collaborative, direct support focused on problem-solving and implementing lasting solutions. I believe therapy should help you gain insight into who you are at your core while also building the tools you need to face challenges with confidence. At the heart of my work is building a strong connection with my clients. I believe that feeling seen and understood is essential for deep engagement in therapy. In our sessions, you’ll find a warm inviting space where I’ll be honest and hold you accountable to your goals. I aim to cultivate a healthy sense of challenge that encourages you to work toward meaningful change. My hope is that you’ll feel grounded and supported as we tackle life’s difficulties together. My approach incorporates psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), focusing on processing past experiences while also making positive changes in the present.

I am a licensed psychologist in Brooklyn, NY. I have a hybrid practice and see clients in person and over through telehealth. I work with individuals, couples, and families to provide a space where they can examine their lives and focus on healing their relationships with themselves and others. A goal of mine is for clients to learn how to make deliberate, value aligned decisions rather than reactive, impulsive ones. My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of the relationship between therapist and client as a direct means of change. I pull from an attachment-informed, interpersonal perspective that addresses rigid and maladaptive patterns. Clients learn how to practice effective self-care and explore different coping skills to use in moments of distress. My aim is to empower clients to understand who they are and use this understanding to reach a greater level of fulfillment from everyday life. I earned my Psy.D. from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to a private practice, I also work for the NYPD. The majority of my clinical work has been in civil and forensic hospitals and corrections.

I have been a counselor since 2011. For most of my career, I have focused on working with people with various disabilities to achieve independent living and career-based goals. Through my work, I have found that many therapies and therapists are capable but not skilled at adapting to the individualized needs of my clients. So, I pursued some additional education and credentials to develop ways to combine my background in rehabilitation with mental health diagnosis and treatment. I hope to continue developing adaptive psychotherapy to reduce barriers to mental health care.

I have always believed that individuals have the strength, insight, and power within themselves to build their most meaningful life, sometimes with a little bit of support from those around them. This primary belief led me to the field of clinical social work, where one of the core values of the entire profession is that we believe in the dignity and worth of each and every individual. My professional experiences within the field of clinical social work over the past 20 years have been extensive, allowing me the benefit of working with individuals at all ages and stages of life, within a wide variety of specialization areas. In 2016, my professional path led me towards private practice, where I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to my own office. Initially intending my practice to be a part-time supplement to my full-time work, it quickly became apparent that people needed support, especially in the areas of my focus. My work as a therapist, author, and college professor is my passion but I also believe in a strong work-life balance. When I am not with clients or students, you can often find me on a sports field cheering on one of my children or taking quiet time at home with one of our 5 (yes, 5!) pets.

Seeking out therapy is a sign of strength and you deserve a safe place for discovery. Ultimately therapy is a journey of exploration. I strive to create a therapeutic environment where you genuinely feel understood, heard, and seen in a compassionate, non-judgmental space. Our work together can explore and navigate through your concerns to reach a more meaningful and fulfilling life while reaching your extraordinary potential. Sometimes the discovery is about friends and loved ones. Ultimately, the journey of discovery leads to the "self" and how we interact with others and ourselves. I want to help you on your search toward goals that you decide. I hope you find happiness based on what we discover together. I see our relationship as a collaboration. I previously taught Personality Theory and Cognitive Psychology at Mount St. Mary's University in Los Angeles, CA. I consider myself a lifelong learner with a passion for emerging theories and techniques. I also have an extensive background in business development consulting.
